Holy Dumpening! This morning I got up and I noticed that it was putting down the floof, but then I got to work on homework.

After several hours of figuring out standard deviation equation problems, writing introductory essays about myself for my social work course, setting up appointments with the college research library and my professor for a required upcoming research project, and taking a quiz for my community health worker course, I came up for air.

As I shrugged into my winter coat and slipped on my barn boots I wondered how much snow had fallen.

A LOT!

And it's beautiful, fluffy snow too! Since we are on the receding side of an arctic air mass, the snow is dry and stacking high! The corg bounced around like she had bought some of those new fangled energy patches with the crystals in them. So much snow had fallen that when she hurtled herself off the trail she disappeared.

The boy went off farm to fuel up his truck for school tomorrow. All of the area schools were canceled for today due to the snow and the fact that a bunch of them had busted pipes due to our uncharacteristicly freezing weather. He came back in all excited because the roads were horrible and the snow was up to his knees.

It's always nice when your offspring are animated.

Me, well, I happen to love snow, so the tromp out to the chickens gave me a bit of a second wind for round two of my homework for the day. Fording the knee deep powder to the barn and back gave me a boost of oxygenation and alleviated my brain strain of holy wow I am back in college and slightly overwhelmed by the totality of it all symptoms.

It was a good little hike. Plus the chickens and the ducks are always happy to see me.

As I was settling back in after taking a two mile rejuvenating stroll, I got a text from a dear friend of ours. She said tonight was her television debut on Fox's We Are Family. I told her I was super excited for her, although I felt a little bad that I had never even heard of the show, but I also reassured her I would totally watch it because I love our friend, she's amazing!

But for now, I think I am going to run somewhat screaming from screens.

What I mean by that is I think the hardest thing for me about going back to college is going to be the sitting. I don't notice it too much while I am engrossed in the work, but I am also certainly not used to staying stationary on my flintlocks either. But thanks to all this snow I have a plan to put some of my carcass's surplus energy to work tomorrow, a nice little snowshoeing jaunt in all the fresh powder. SQUEE!!
