According to the Oxford dictionary, the word sublime means, of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe.
I have experienced moments that fit the description of that term no less than three times today, so I felt it only right to trot out my friend #old-guy-photos truly fantastic #sublimesunday tag for a tryout.
My first sublime moment occurred this morning as I was lounging in bed. My husband and I have been tres busy as usual, but this morning we got to languish a bit. He and I were sipping coffee and watching a British murder mystery, when I glanced down and smiled at our other bed guests. My cowboy corgi Crazy Cora was ensconced between us, and our German Shepherd hound dog Lani was lying at the end of our king size bed, her feet towards the sky.
It was as I reached down to scratch her belly that I noticed something. Her mammary glands had grown. Now, our dogs are almost a year old, and just recently came into heat for the first time. We were very careful to keep an eye on the girls during their cycle, as they both need to take a trip to the vet for a spay treatment. However, one night our son let our big dog out, and apparently she had an interlude. Interestingly enough, the only dog any of us have seen for weeks is a gigantic white beast that looks like a wolf.
The next awe inspiring thing on my list had to do with a discovery. I've been organizing all our keepsakes, paperwork, and pictures as of late, and I found an old sketch book. Younger Kat used to draw all manner of fantastical creatures, sublimely-so beasts of all kinds. Check out this pony:
The final moment of sublime excellence that I experienced this Sunday has to do with one of my favorite things, writing. I had a bit of inspiration this week, and have decided to publish an idea that I had in the form of short story ebooks. I spent several hours today cranking out thousands of words of dialogue and scenes in a story world all of my own. It was absolutely magnificent, sublimely so!
My face has been lit up with a smile for most of the day today, for it was the first day in a long while that I got to enjoy me. I hope that everyone's Sunday has been as glorious as mine!
And as always, all of the images in this post were taken on author's in possession of a rather sublime patina iPhone.
