Every year in Okayama we have an oyster festival. Thousands of people from around Japan gather and eat fresh oysters caught locally, you can even get oyster ice cream, a soft serve ice cream with two fried oysters sticking in it, and oyster sauce (It's not good!!).

Myself and my wife try to go every year and over the years we kept noticing a group of local farmers who always sat outside the festival near their boats grilling oysters on their home made BBQ's.

Last time i went i decided to take my camera with me as i really wanted to capture them. After working up the courage to approach them i went over, introduced myself and asked if i could take their photos. After taking their portraits they asked us to sit with them. For the next few hours they plied us with all the free oysters we could eat.

The hospitality of Japanese people never ceases to amaze me, on numerous occasions i've been invited to join special events, trips, meals and drinks by random strangers. Some of whom i am still friends with to this day.
One time i was talking to a guy in our local bar when he mentioned that he was going scuba diving that weekend in a nearby prefecture, after saying how i hadn't been diving in a few years I found myself invited to the trip. Less that 24 hours later i was driving to Tottori with him where we spent all day diving through caves .
