A couple days ago I stopped at a café I frequent; The coffee is good and they have a couple spots out of the way where I can watch the world go by, people-watch and generally just observe without interaction.

Below is my coffee and beyond is a counter with stools and green things on the bench - They're green apples used for smoothies. Behind is the smoothie preparation area and I sat watching a lady preparing smoothies; And therein lies the issue. You see, she was doing something that was not legit, in my opinion.

The image below shows the baskets clearly but what it doesn't show is the little round stickers on the apples, the sticker showing the type and farmers logo; Every apple has one but the lady didn't seem to care...She simply threw the apples into the blender sticker and all and whilst that might be ok for some I'm not too keen on the idea of plastic sticker-smoothies...And I wonder if they were even washed - They get sprayed you know.

I'm not much of a smoothie-drinker and maybe this sort of behaviour is smoothie-legitimate but a little more care should be taken with food-products I think; Eating plastic isn't all that good for anyone right?

Can't pick the stickers off, hasn't got the time; So does she have the time to wash her hands after using the bathroom prior to touching our food? Does she use the same cloth to wipe a mess off the floor then wipe smoothie glasses clean with it? Does she even bother using clean glasses or cleaning the blender correctly? All good questions those who drink the smoothies might ask; Don't we have the right to expect a level of care?

What do people do when no one is looking?

It's said our actions define us and I believe it; Act poorly in public and people will see and judge, draw conclusions, ones that will probable endure and affect future interactions.

It's like the person who was recently found commenting to himself multiple times on one of his own posts here on hive then upvoting each one; It was seen, and has been addressed hard and it'll define how people perceive that person from now. His actions were on the blockchain for all to see making it easy to come to the conclusion that he is a bad actor. But what about when no one is looking, when one thinks it's possible to get away with doing the wrong thing?

Actions and behaviours undertaken, when no one is there to see, define a person more accurately I believe. It's not just with individuals either, it works for businesses, corporations, governments and others...How many times have you heard about a company or business representing themselves in a favourable way only to find out they are doing something underhanded behind the scenes? It happens so often.

Seeing that lady cut corners made me wonder what happens behind the scenes that directly affects us but which we'll never know about...Restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, trades-people, mechanics, farms, supermarkets, retailers and big factories, corporations, governments...Right down to people not washing their hands correctly after they use the bathroom...Which is a fucking disgusting habit.

It affects every single person on the planet and could be a bit of a worry I guess. Sure, what we don't know can't hurt us right? Err...Wrong. It can and does, we just don't know about it sometimes...Chinese wet-markets and this little thing called Corona Virus sort of bent the world over and gave it one right? Maybe a good example of bad acting.

We can't be everywhere at once though, keep an eye on everything, and so a certain amount of trust is given that the right thing is being done.

We can look at ourselves though and what we do when no one is looking then choose to be the best version of ourselves whether people can see it or not; It's actually a pretty good feeling I think. I try to do this, try to conduct myself and life as best I can whether someone is looking or not. Sure, I'll still get judged either way, that's inevitable, but at least I know what I'm doing and that's what counts to me.

My question is...Have you seen something similar to what the smoothie lady did today? Food get dropped then brushed off and put back on the plate, someone use the bathroom fail to wash their hands then use the same door handle you have to use. Maybe a mechanic charged for parts and labour that never actually got fitted? Have you witnessed someone doing the wrong thing thinking no one is looking? There must be a million things. Comment below...Do a rant comment if you like...It's permitted.
