I was emotionally exhausted the other day... so much stuff just came one after another. You know that idiom, "When it rains, it pours." It was like that... and on top of that, I had to smile on camera because I was teaching students online. Sometimes, it's hard to keep up a facade, but we have to separate our personal problems from work, right?
Recently, I've started a relationship with someone I met online almost 6 years ago. He's been a nice friend who has been in the background for so long. Something happened, and he cracked open my locked door. LOL
We noticed there was something just barely a couple of months ago, and we decided to be exclusive. I know it seems weird because why not go directly to a traditional relationship, right? However, it was both our choice. We live thousands of miles away, and we are both busy with our own lives. Personally, I prefer this setup because I don't feel suffocated...
I know communication is important in long-distance, but I dislike making my life revolve around my future partner... or vice versa. There was a time when I tried dating someone online (not official, as we were just testing the waters then), but I couldn't really keep up with that person. He wanted to text every day and video call a couple of times a week. For most, it may have been understandable, but for me it was too much. XD Well, we did have a lot in common, but our principles and way of thinking often clashed, which I feel was negative... the atmosphere was just so dark.
However, for this current one, we text when we're free. We give each other space, but we still try to make time for each other. Like the other day, I told him I was emotionally drained but didn't tell him the reason. He was also having a tough time at work because his job is pretty demanding (logistics). However, yesterday, he sat down and made time for me... we texted for about two hours, just trying to comfort each other and take things off our minds for a bit. It felt nice, and I could breathe much better... I even worked again after he said good night. (His place is two hours ahead, though it'll be 3 hours ahead in a few days.) We've been purely text-based and picture exchange, so transitioning to a voice call or video call takes time... we're living in a slow-burn world, and I'm not complaining one bit.
And today, I could spend a productive day working, cleaning my room, exercising, and just catching up with me-things... we didn't text today, and that's not a problem at all. We've got our lives to live and circumstances to face... :) But when one of us needs the other, we'll make time.
I like that he's not asking for a lot of my time because I barely even have time for myself and the other things I want or need to do. hahaha Do I sound like a red flag? HAHAHAHA XD At least we both agreed on it.
Nothing is set in stone, and we chose to live in the present and think about the future when we're both ready. We're not closing the possibility of meeting up someday and talking about our relationship... We'll eventually get there. It's not even a month since we started. LOL
Apparently, being with this person came with a bonus! LOL
He's a cat daddy... and these are Goma and Kenta. When he lived in Japan, he took care of six cats, including Kenta (that lovely gentleman below), but when he decided to move back home, he could only take one with him. He got Goma a few months ago because having just one cat isn't enough. HAHAHAH XD They're both so cute... and they look fluffy.
I wonder if Goma and Kenta would be friends with my furbabies (Arashi and Max). Anyway, I'd love to see my long-distance babies someday... though I'd have to settle for them rubbing their bodies against my legs, because my asthma doesn't allow me to cuddle them for a long time. hahaha
Anyway, I've talked too much, and it's half past one. I'll hit the sack now and try to be productive again when I wake up. See you around! (^^,)/
