I'd like to tell you Faith and I are planning an energetic weekend of outdoorsy activities; Hiking, kayaking or off-roading in our four wheel drive, maybe even a lovely brunch at our favourite café on Sunday morning or a session in the beer garden at the pub with some bro's and bro-ette's...But nope, none of that's happening. Not even close.

My wife had an operation on Wednesday and she's in recuperation-mode, much to her disgust, and I'm playing carer. I'm on deck to administer her injections (which I hate doing), making sure her pills are taken at the right time, making and serving food, fetching glasses of water, new books for her to read, sharpening her artists pencils, doing general housework and basically not having any fun at all. I don't mind though, this is how we do things; Together and with care and respect for the others' needs.

Faith's operation went very well if you're wondering, so the surgeon says anyway, and we are hoping the recovery goes well also; She's in pain of course and is a little annoyed that she's so bruised, but overall pleased it went well, that the worst is over and that she can look forward to a little improvement each day.

So this weekend we're not doing much although to be honest I'm looking forward to having an excuse not to have to do anything other stay home - We need weekend's like that sometimes and next weekend I'm heading north for a two day shooting even I'm competing in so I'm happy to be present this weekend.

I hope y'all have something a little more exciting planned for your own weekends, drop a comment below and tell me what if you get a chance, although I know some of you may be having Hard Fork issues still so might not be able to.

Also, don't forget to post your weekend-related content here in the Engage the Weekend community, I'll be curating here all weekend, and of course Weekend-enagagement topic week 19 here so feel free to check it out and respond to it sometime over the weekend also.

I'm going to leave you with a quote I like

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Ralph Waldo Emerson
