Last night Faith and I went for a night out together; Date night is what most would probably call it. We had plans to hit a bar for some live music and a few drinks too; The live music didn't work out so well though, thanks pandemic, but we had a good night anyway.
We hit a Mexican restaurant for dinner, one of my favourite foods, ate some really tasty food and had a little sangria; Even Faith, who doesn't usually drink alcohol, had a small glass of sangria too! I had a small large glass, or four, also.
Because of the pandemic restrictions people are not permitted to stay overly long at restaurants; They do that to maintain turnover as they are not permitted to have as many people in there at the one time. That's why we intended to hit a bar after dinner, to hang around for a bit. Of course, the pandemic had other ideas and it wasn't possible; There's not a lot of live music around at this point. Thanks pandemic.
In lieu of the bar and live music we ended up at a dessert bar called Chocolate Tree. We selected some desserts and coffee and the rest will go down in history as some of the tastiest desserts we've had in a long time!
Above is Faith's dessert which was an amazingly presented raspberry pana cotta! All of the bits and pieces on the plate combined perfectly into a pretty special taste-sensation.
My choice was a little more basic, but no less tasty!
Here's my dessert; A Belgian waffle with chocolate buttons, a pot of warm Belgian chocolate and cookies and cream chocolate ice cream on the side. Need I say more?
I think the images speak for themselves and the taste? Well, you'd have to try it to know...Just stunning! You'll have to trust me.
We added in some coffee's and felt pretty vindicated for choosing Chocolate Tree for our after dinner hang out...We weren't lamenting the live-music fail at all.
Last night's outing wasn't just about dinner and dessert; If you read my posts you'll know we are facing some difficulties ahead as Faith's mum has a secondary cancer; We don't know how it will go, but we wanted to take some time to pause, connect and to reside in the little bubble we create around ourselves. The next week will be very difficult; Her mum's testing and prognosis and advice from the oncology team on the path forward through an operation and chemotherapy, and this pause, the small detachment, has helped us prepare, or at least start the journey from a point of togetherness.
Our relationship is very strong and always has been; Moments like last night help us keep it that way of course. But keeping our relationship strong and passionate is a daily thing, something we work at all the time, not one sweet moment to the next, but constant effort through good and bad, whatever life hands us. Of course, that effort often feels effortless because we feel so strongly for each other, are respectful, caring and above all else base everything we do on love. Yes, I know, that probably sounds a bit sappy and all, but it works for us and after thirty three years we're still as much in love as ever.
We just do what we do and let others do whatever it is they do.
I hope y'all are having a great weekend so far and have found something to be passionate about because life is too short to accept anything less, in my humble opinion.
