I don't know if this is because some of these bars are in out of the way locations or if some sort of deal has been reached by whoever the local cop is but some of the bars, including one that is really near my condo, remain open for business.

They just tell us when we come in that we are all "waiting for our takeout food" if there is a raid. I don't think they are overly concerned about there actually being a raid though because they aren't terribly covert about the fact that they are open.

When you walk around the My An area, it is evident that there has been a government order for places to be shut because everyone is displaying a "take away only" sign of some sort and for the most part, bars are completely shut. Some on the other hand, either don't give a damn or are paying someone off to be allowed to be open. Nothing in My An area is in an "out of the way location" and the particular bar that I was at is just a block away from a police precinct - the police would have to be extra unaware of their surroundings to not know that this bar is open.

I thought it was rather silly for them to close the bars and restaurants in the first place because all that this did was encourage people to travel something like 10 blocks in any direction and everything is open. In really stupid situations, because a line had to be drawn somewhere, the restaurants on one side of a street were forced to close but across the same street, within sight of the closed bars and restaurants, it is business as usual.

I can only imagine how enraged a person who owns a restaurant on one side of the street must be about the fact that the other side isn't forced to close. It doesn't make any sense but then again, the government rarely does anything that makes sense.

I mentioned "raids" before or at least the fear of them but the other day I was in this bar again and we saw police officers across the street at a neighboring business and we all kind of got on edge. They just waved at us and smiled. I don't think the cops are even interested in enforcing this stuff anymore or at least in this particular situation, they didn't appear to be.
