It’s snack time and there’s plenty of satisfying options for me to choose from. Nowadays, the selections for modern fastfood options seems endless and it keeps on evolving often to cater to taste buds of the younger generations. Even with all of the new options available, there are traditional food that remains relevant even in today’s modern food trend.
Among the traditional food that are still being made today that I would say are my favorites are Chinese meat pie and Soya milk.
A traditional meat pie is a Chinese bun that is filled with savory braised pork. It’s cooked by frying each side until it’s golden brown. Some parts of the outer skin of the bun has crunch to it because of the frying while majority of the bun will be tender and chewy. There are a few types of meat pie but I like the one that’s filled with braised pork and cabbage. It’s the 2nd option which is marked by a green dot on the center of the bun.
For my drink, I’m having soya milk which is one of the many by-products of soy beans. It’s amazing how this soy beans can be transformer into plenty of food products including a drink. It’s amazing how it can rival the coconut when it comes to the number of by-products that is being made using it.
I’m a big fan of soy-based food products. I like and eat numerous variety of tofu but there’s only 1 type of drink that I like… it’s the soya milk that’s lightly sweetened.
The chilled soya milk is refreshing and it matches well with a savory Chinese meat pie. Somehow, I do enjoy the satisfying heaviness of this snack. It could even be as good a meal because it really fills me up.
Both of these under a $5 price is considered a good deal!
