It was 3 years ago when I tried mining some coins using my laptop. After 2 days of trying I realize that it's not worth risking my laptop for mining rewards. I stopped mining and never look back since then.
In that experience, I learned that proof-of-work is not really for everyone. It takes more technical knowledge & high upfront cost to set up a credible computer build to make proof-of-work a profitable business.
That's one of the reasons why I feel that the proof-of-stake system is a superior method of securing a network. This method makes validation or delegation to earn block rewards more accessible to the masses. I actually think that it's efficient and a relatively easier concept to grasp.
So, whenever I'm scouting for a project that I intend to invest in; my first requirement is that the crypto project has to be running on a proof-of-stake system. This is the kind of coin that I'm willing to hold in the long term. Since I'm not a savvy trader, I prefer a coin that allows me to earn more coins by simply holding or staking it in a decentralized platform.
I'm not a fan of taking on an Exchange. I tried it once but it makes me doubt the safety of my holdings. I guess that the old saying...
"Not your keys, Not your Coins."
Had me believing that my coins are better to be stored/staked into a platform where I have full control over them.
The next thing that I look into is whether the blockchain is "interoperable".
This is a feature that is being implemented in Cosmos Hub. It's relatively new but has been in development for a few years now. I'm really glad that it's getting implemented during this bull market because it is during this time that we can really see the potential of this technology. It's also during this time that we can really test its full capacity. I hope that it will be tested with the heaviest traffic that the scalability aspect of it will be proven.
What makes interoperability unique is that the blockchains that are under the cosmos hub will be able to communicate with each other in a decentralized manner. There will be no boundaries among these blockchains and yet they are sovereign.
The users of different blockchain will be able to exchange values seamlessly without intermediaries or middlemen between them.
And the good thing is that I can do it within the same wallet or same decentralized platform like Cosmostation.
It's something to look forward to by the time the Gravity DEX goes live in its Mainnet. I hope that it gets implemented in the next few days or a few weeks to come.
