Doesn’t swearing make you seem more mature or witty?
That’s what people think who haven’t heard or read insults of the highest creative calibre. Besides, who’s waiting for others to attribute qualities of maturity or intelligence to you? Not me.
On the other hand, swearing can be a brilliant and powerful way to let off steam when you’re angry or sad. And if you add a dash of wit to the mix, you can go from anger to laughter in a matter of seconds.
Mind you, it does, of course, depend on the context: whether we’re speaking to someone directly, where, why, what we’re actually saying, and what the insult is aimed at (a complaint? To hurt the other person? To show that something has annoyed or hurt us? To let off steam in private? To reveal our vulnerability in a particular situation?)
Anyway. I’m not interested in being seen as mature or intelligent. I just enjoy looking for puns (that might be considered rude), as long as they’re witty and help me let off steam from time to time. Ha!

Eso creen quienes no escucharon o leyeron insultos de la más alta gama creativa. Además, quién está esperando que los demás te atriboyan cualidades de madurez o inteligencia. Yo no.
Por otro lado, decir palabrotas puede ser una vía enorme y fantástica de desahogar la furia o la tristeza. Y si a eso le sumamos una cuota de ingenio, podemos pasar de la ira a la risa en cuestión de segundos.
Aclaro, porsupuesto que depende el contexto, si le hablamos a alguien directamente, dónde, porqué, qué estamos diciendo realmente, a dónde apunta el insulto (una queja?, herir a la otra persona?, mostrar que algo nos ha molestado o lastimado?, desahogarnos en confianza?, abrir nuestra vulnerabilidad ante una situación determinada?)
En fin. No me interesa que me reconozcan madura ni inteligente. Si me divierte buscar juegos de palabras (que podrían considerarse groseras), que sean ingeniosos y ayuden a desahogarme en ocasiones. Ja!
