Living Victoriously
Let’s face it, we all get wounded at some time in our life. Do you hold onto that pain? Do you want to become the victor instead of the victim? Holding onto pain can result in abusing yourself in other areas. Pacifying yourself with food is not the answer. It may taste great at the moment you are eating it, but trust me guilt will set in. Comfort food doesn’t really bring comfort it is usually highly processed, high carb not really good for you food.
Victorious people know how to take what is handed to them and learn from it. Wounds bring pain but victory brings wisdom. Victims stay victims. Rather than learning from their pain they nurture it, feeding it with being unforgiving and pity. They feel bad for themselves and blame the pain for all of their problems. Instead of blaming, express your pain and your responsibility in it. If you are overweight because you broke up with someone you loved, don’t blame them for your weight gain. Own it, it is then you can be one step closer to being a victor and you can then be responsible for what you are eating and how it affects your body. You are responsible for you. Blaming someone for your problems is an easy way out in your mind but in reality it just puts you in bondage and prevents you from being a victor.
Make a decision to let it go. Spend your time mourning but move on. You are holding yourself back from reaching your full potential if you hold on to wounds. Being victorious means you have learned a lesson from the wound. It means you let it go but you won’t let it happen again. You have taken responsibility for your part and reaction and you are mature enough to look at where you may have done something wrong and realize a way that you could change for the better. Be a victor.
You cannot change what has happened in the past so find joy in today. Start today to begin a new tomorrow. Change your lifestyle choices to healthy ones. Don’t use food as your crutch any longer. You are the only one who can choose this. Instead of turning to food find an exercise that you really like and do it. Tell yourself that you can. A journey begins with the first step so you may as well step into a happy, healthy lifestyle. It can be fencing, tennis, yoga, basketball, baseball or even rowing. Take before and after pictures and your measurements. This will give you a visual of how far you advance. You can be the victor rather the victim. The choice is up to you.
Sometimes giving up that wound is hard because you have made it part of who you are. Strangely you think you feel comfort in your pain. That is victim mentality and no one really likes it. When you step into a room full of people do they gravitate toward you or away from you. People like to be around happy people and if you are lonely, sad and unhappy, you will talk that way and no one will like to be around you. Be the victor not the victim. You do not have to hide your feelings but you don’t have to “throw up” all over them either. Change your attitude and your words and begin enjoying like again.
Live for the here and now. Wake up and smile and remind yourself how great it is to be alive. Start now to make physical and mental changes. Here are some simple steps to help you get started.
Look in the mirror and tell yourself you are a winner, not a loser.
If someone has wounded you, forgive them. This is huge but absolutely necessary to becoming a victor. Just forgive and let it go and forgive yourself. If thoughts come into your mind tell yourself “No, I have chosen to forgive and I am moving on.” Make this a new habit, you are a victor.
Today if the first day of the rest of your life, find joy in it. Look for the positive and skip the negative. Smile at people, a smile costs nothing but it gives others so much. You may be the only one who smiles at them today.
Choose to eat a healthy breakfast. No processed foods or sugar. This includes bread, bagels, cereal, or anything that has sugar or high fructose syrup in it. If it is made in a factory and/or you cannot pronounce what is in it don’t eat it. Be the victor in this and you will see results.
Choose an exercise and do it. Join a gym, ask a friend to walk with you, go for a walk by yourself, so some squats, something! This will make you feel better both physically and mentally.
