Oh how I love coconuts!

It’s a rare find in Japan.
Back in Jamaica, I had two coconut trees. They got damaged in a hurricane.
My mom would often buy coconuts anyway. She made snacks with them, and we used them in our cooking. One thing the family really enjoyed was the refreshing taste of chilled coconut water. We drank a lot of that. We also enjoyed what we called jelly coconuts, the younger ones with softer flesh inside.

I’ve been lucky to find jelly coconuts here in Japan. At special times of the year, mostly in summer, we can find a few imported ones from Thailand and or the Phillipines in certain supermarkets. They are usually for a very limited time. I make sure to take photo shots as I consider my coco-moments to be special.

Recently I found a special fruit shop in Motomachi, Kobe. Lo and behold! They sell coconuts. I got so excited. I went nuts.
Coconut lovers, where are you? Type “Coco” if you’re with me.
