For many years I have been "working on my body". That is a phrase that I picked up when I was just a kid. It is an idea that my body is somehow not ideal, and that it needs to be worked on. The truth isn't too far off of that, but it isn't exactly like that.
I believe that my body is more of a machine that is mine to operate in this existence. Through a breif moment while meditating, I got a glimpse of "who I am". That is not the same as "what I am", or "what is mine".
It struck me that I am something much more. Something that is more connected to the eternal existence of all things, and connected to the Creator. My Heavenly Father. I am not a mainline Christian, but something different. I believe in that connection on a different level.
The body though, it is mine. I eat food that turns into more body. I exercise and eat the way I do, so that this meat suit that I am piloting can function in a certain way. I kind of see it like a car. You don't do certain things with certain cars, but you need the right equipment for the right job.
I have always wanted to just... function. I wanted to be able to run, jump, swim and play. I wanted to be able to play with my kids. Not only to play with them, but to show them how to push even harder to get the experience you want.
In this last year I have gotten some physical response that I am really happy about. I have started to do things that I haven't done in years. In just a few months I will be 38, and just the other day I started to do cartwheels in the grocery store parking lot. Yep, just to make Stacie D (@freedomtowrite) smile. I love to make her smile, and to work out together.
I have also been pushing the limits with doing hand stands, and climbing trees. I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to be able to physically do what I mentally want to. This didn't come easily though, it took work.
I want to encourage everyone to try. To do the work that you HAVE to do, so that you can do the things that you WANT to do.
I believe that we are capable, and that our bodies want to be well. They are made to heal and to repair. It is up to us to learn how to give it what it needs, and not just do what we think.
I hope that you all are feeling excited and encouraged. Get out there and seize the day!
Please share this post, and let's encourage each other!
Be well
