Hello Splinterfam...
A week has passed since I last took a challenge and posted here on Peakd. I'm hoping you'll indulge and spare me a moment of your precious time to read through my entry once more. This battle is fought using my alt account. You may issue a challenge to me to prove ownership of the account.

BACK TO BASICS: Monsters lose all abilities
"Ensures your back row monsters remain unscathed from your enemies' Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks! With this ruleset, Magic and Ranged attacks reign supreme, leaving melee attacks useless beyond the first position. Thus, opt for high speed monsters and summoners with damage or defense boosts against these attacks. And don't forget to line up your monsters in order of their health - for ultimate success!"
Counterspell: All monsters have the magic reflect ability

While it is true that when Back to Basics Ruleset is applied the monsters should be placed in descending order with regards to their health points, I'm only able to follow it from 2nd Slot down to the Last Slot. It is due to amount of mana available that I can distribute to my monsters. Magic Attack monsters are best used when such ruleset is applied since they can directly damage the enemy monster's health points, disregarding their armors, unless granted Void Armor ability by certain summoner such as GrandMaster Rathe.
I picked the Earth Splinter from the available splinters in the list. Since I anticipated that the opponent will highly likely choose magic attackers as well.
ɨʍʍօʀȶǟʟɨֆ
I picked this summoner since it can grant Void ability to ally monsters which will reduce damages received from magic attacks. This means that attack damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage. This is such a helpful or a crucial ability especially when low health points monsters are chosen to take the battlefield. Immortalis' granted ability to its ally monsters will also negate the effect of another ruleset Counterspell. No other summoner is best suited to summon my monsters other than him.
ʄʊռɢʊֆ ʄɨɛռɖ
This is the last monster chosen to take the battlefield in this match. I first chose the magic attackers then picked this as an additional monster since it cost 0mana.The ruleset being as it is I cannot placed this in the Last Slot as I have often done in some of my previous battles. I placed it in the Front Position acting as my Tank following the correct placement of monsters (melee, then magic, lastly ranged attackers). This way no turn is wasted since all of my monsters can attack once their turn comes up.
ʍǟɢɨ օʄ ƈɦǟօֆ
I lacked offensive attacking power since my summoner is focused mostly in defense. With this in mind I chose a medium cost mana monster that can also deal some decent amount of magic damage. ʍǟɢɨ օʄ ƈɦǟօֆ perfectly fits the criteria and so it is chosen to also take the battlefield. With 6units HP it can be a decent replacement for my Tank when the opponent killed it off in the early phase of the game. 6units HP is decent enough to be used as secondary tank since the battle that will ensue is only low mana battle.
զʊɛɛռ ʍʏƈɛʟɨǟ
Next to be chosen to take battlefield is this queen. Its got low magic attack power but has a decent amount of HP at 4units. It is important that the chosen monster's HP is as high as possible not sacrificing the amount of damage the ally monsters can deal with in the enemy monsters. With this in mind, I picked this monster leaving me with only 2mana left.
ӄɦʍɛʀ քʀɨռƈɛֆֆ
With 2mana remaining at my disposal I can only pick ӄɦʍɛʀ քʀɨռƈɛֆֆ as the last monster that can fight the enemy monster. She got low magic power, low speed and low health points but can at his point anything that can be used and cause additional damage to enemy monsters is more than welcome to be chosen to take the battlefield.
We have chosen the same Tank in a sense that we both used the 0mana monster. In this way the 2nd Position monster which will eventually be in the front will be saved from initial onslaught of both sides. We both focused our offense with our magic attack monsters although one of the ruleset is Counterspell. The only difference and saving grace from both our line-up is that I used a summoner with the Void-granting ability while he used one magic attacker with high health points.
The early stage of the battle involves the killing of both 0mana monsters on each side.
The difference in strength between our line-up has stared to become apparent at the later stage of Round 1. The enemy monsters are taking damages from their attacks through Counterspell while mine did not. The remaining monsters in my line-up were all in full health when Round 2 began.
You can all see that enemy monster's magic attackers have been greatly affected by their own attacks the magic reflect. Using magic attackers without any way to negate such attack being reflected back at them greatly worked in my favor.
The succeeding Rounds 3 & 4 have been an easy rounds for my monsters and immediately grasped victory.
Back to Basic ruleset is a hard to win battle especially if the mana given is too low to give you an option to pick higher mana monsters with decent attacking powers. One can gain advantage by choosing the correct summoner which will grant the chosen monsters taking the battlefield some abilities that will be used either for offence or defense. In this case my choosing of ɨʍʍօʀȶǟʟɨֆ turned out to be the best one and in the end it gave me landslide victory.
As expected the opposing battle mage made his line-up mostly focusing on magic attackers as well although there is one ranged attackers. My guess is he opted to use the ranged attackers due to its high health points which proved to be useless in the end since it cannot attack anymore or defend itself when it was the only one left standing.
There goes my entry for this week's challenge. Hope you liked it.
Till next time
