After a great and successful selection I achieved a fantastic victory in this 40 Mana battle. Keeping a special ruleset in mind I made a specific strategy and plan and according to that, I selected my monsters.
Today's 40 Mana battle was very interesting and exciting. In the early rounds it was difficult to tell who was going to win the battle.. But as the monsters reached the middle position monsters I realized that my team selection was very strong and because of my strategy I was winning the battle.
In this battle, there was a modifier called Briar Patch.
BRIAR PATCH
In this ruleset, all units receive the Thorns ability. The Thorns ability works in such a way that whenever a monster makes a melee attack, it receives true damage back in return. (2 Damage return)
This means it is important to understand that melee attackers should not be given too much priority in this ruleset. Even if a melee attacker lands a successful attack, it will receive true damage in return which is a major disadvantage.
Keeping this strategy in mind, I selected my monsters carefully. My goal was to avoid melee attackers as much as possible. I selected only one melee attacker and only because it also has a magic attack. This means it is a double-strike monster, attacking the enemy every round with both melee and magic attacks.
All of my remaining monsters were based on ranged and magic attacks. I decided to choose a Magic Archon so that I would have more choices for selecting magic monsters.
For my frontline tank, I selected a double strike monster with high health. After that, in the middle line I selected ranged and magic attack monsters. Finally in the backline I placed ranged attackers that kept dealing continuous attacks throughout the battle.
On the enemy side there were two melee attackers. They also kept this strategy in mind and selected fewer melee monsters. However because my positioning was stronger and my monster selection and placement were better I won this battle.
I would dedicate today's battle to two monsters: Spitting Camel and Grand Consul Minion. These are two ranged attack monsters that stayed in the backline and kept attacking continuously.
Their mana costs are 6 and 4 and both have excellent stats and abilities. If I talk about their price you can get them at around $0.10 to $0.20 at Level 1. They are excellent monsters to add to your deck because they are extremely useful in rulesets like this.
So whenever you see the Briar Patch ruleset, remember that you should avoid melee attackers and focus as much as possible on ranged and magic attacks. You should also try to enter the battle with strong selectiong and best positioning so that you have the best possible chance of winning.
What do you think about this type of ruleset? Do you think selecting a high health melee attacker is still a safe choice under this ruleset? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
