Lessons of the Wild

This chapter is the actual tutorial of this game where Rost will teach me and Aloy how to survive in the wild full of killing machines.

There was a cinematic at the beginning of this mission and it was the next morning after the first chapter.

Screenshot (2).png

Rost came out of the home and found Aloy playing with the device she found from the cave. Aloy was actually trying out the device and was trying to understand what the meaning of the shapes from the lights.

Screenshot (3).png

Then Rost gave Aloy a bow and said enough muttering to that plaything and they'll descend to the valley now.

Screenshot (4).png

Aloy started following Rost towards the valley.

Screenshot (5).png

On the way, Rost was saying some important things to Aloy about the wilds being dangerous and that Aloy will need to stay close and do as Rost say so that nothing goes wrong.

Screenshot (6).png

The mission starts from here after the cinematic ends.
Rost asked me to gather some berries of a plant called Salvebrush. After gathering the berries, Rost asked me to eat the berries which will transfer health from medicine pouch to my health pool.

Then Rost advised me to always keep my pouch with medicinal berries, flowers and plants as they'll save life.

Screenshot (7).png

While walking towards, suddenly Rost said that a machine was coming towards our way so he asked me to crouch and hide in the tall grass as it will make me invisible to unaware enemies.

Screenshot (8).png

These machines are called watchers and I must learn to avoid their gaze if I wish to survive in the wilds. These watchers are similar to savage animals like tiger or lion who will start attack me as soon as they detect me that's why I need to avoid their gaze.

Screenshot (9).png

We were waiting in the tall grass for the watcher to pass and it passed the way smoothly without saying anything as it didn't detect us.

Then we started moving forward and there was another watcher that we needed to hide ourself from.

Screenshot (10).png

Then we've seen this boy named Teb who was climbing a mountain and he smiled at us at a point of his climbing.
Aloy asked Rost about that boy and Rost told Aloy to ignore that boy as they are outcast and the boy is from the tribe.

Then someone known as Nora Brave was calling for Teb and he moved.

Screenshot (11).png

Then they kept moving forward and there were a herd of some machines, another kind of machines. This kind is more like wild cows or zebras that we can hunt to gather things. Rost chase those machines away to show Aloy how these kind of machines changes their place if they detect any human being.

Then Rost asked me to collect rocks from the grounds which I'll use to lure the machines.

Screenshot (12).png

Screenshot (13).png

We've found a watcher along with some other kinds of machines and now Rost will show me how he hunts a watcher. I helped him throwing rocks near Rost to lure the watcher while Rost was waiting in the tall grass.

Screenshot (14).png

Then Rost destroyed the watcher and I got to loot it and I've found some metal shards and a sparker which I used to craft hunter arrows.

Screenshot (15).png

Screenshot (16).png

Then Rost asked me to kill a machine with my bow and arrow.

Screenshot (17).png

These machines are called Strider. The device helped me understand the weak spot of the machine and I had to target the eye or canister and then after it charges, I'll need to be ready to roll out of the way. I killed the strider easily and looted what it had.

Screenshot (18).png

Then we kept moving and found another herd of Strider and some Watchers as well.

Screenshot (19).png

The boy Teb was climbing a mountain nearby and fell on the ground near the machines.
Aloy wished to save the boy but Rost said they had nothing to do and the boy will die soon.

Screenshot (20).png

But Rost could see the path the machines were taking using her device but Rost didn't believe it.

Screenshot (21).png

Screenshot (22).png

Even Rost forbid Aloy to do anything, Aloy jumped from Rost and hid herself inside the grasses.
Then I used the device to check on the path that the machines were using and I sneaked through and I got to Teb.

Screenshot (23).png

I saved the boy and took him to Rost.

Screenshot (24).png

Rost looked like he believed in me and gave me my bow.

Screenshot (25).png

Then Teb was praying for us while his peoples came to get him back and forbid him to talk with us as we're outcasts. And they left for their tribe which is called Mother's Heart.

Screenshot (26).png

And voila! The main mission was completed at this point.
Then I got to watch a cinematic that changes the life of Aloy.

Screenshot (27).png

A little boy of the tribe threw a rock targeting the forehead of Aloy and Aloy was hurt.

Screenshot (28).png

Screenshot (29).png

The boy then asked me to stay away and he was addressing me as no-mother.

Screenshot (30).png

Then Aloy took a rock in her hand and I got the special option that offer moments of emotional choice which allows me to select how I want Aloy to react. There were three options,

  1. Aim for his head
  2. Drop my rock
  3. Knock the rock from his hands

I think I was meant to go for the 2nd option by dropping my rock to keep up with the story but I was mad at that boy so I chose the 1st option which aims for his head and Aloy threw the rock targeting the head of the boy but the rock couldn't land on the head of the boy as Rost spoiled the aim of the rock by putting an arrow.

Screenshot (31).png

Aloy looked sad and Rost used something on her forehead and made her understand that they can't do that to those peoples.

Then Aloy asked why she's outcast and Rost told her that the Matriarchs gave Aloy to him so he doesn't know. So Aloy insisted that she'll meet the Matriarchs to know about her biological parents.

Then Rost said there might be a way and which is the proving , the tribes right of passage held every year. From there, the winner gets a boon from the Matriarchs which allows the winner to get whatever he or she wants.

Screenshot (32).png

Aloy picket up her bow and said she'll do it whatever it takes.
Then Rost said they better start training then which will take years.

Screenshot (33).png

Screenshot (34).png

They started training.

Screenshot (35).png

Aloy was training hard at day.

Screenshot (36).png

And learning the device at night.

Screenshot (37).png

And Rost kept caring for Aloy.

Screenshot (38).png

Screenshot (39).png

Screenshot (40).png

Then there was this big jump for Aloy which she was so keen to pass.

Screenshot (41).png

And Aloy has grown into a young woman from that jump. I mean this is what happens in some cinema.

Screenshot (42).png

The little Aloy became a young woman and still kept training seeking the truth.

Screenshot (44).png

Screenshot (45).png

Screenshot (46).png

There was a watcher that Aloy killed in a fantastic style while,

Screenshot (47).png

Rust was about to kill it but Aloy did it herself this time.

Screenshot (48).png

Then at a morning, Aloy came out of the home and was looking for Rust and it was two days before the proving.
A new chapter started from there.

The next chapter will be coming soon.

SEE YOU.
