A reflection on beauty
Recently I was combing my hair when I was about to go out and suddenly I saw my first gray hair.
...And my mind was filled with judgments, and as I watched it I said to myself 'I'm getting old now'.
Every day I watched my gray hair grow and grow so innocently, and the crisis that most people go through when the signs of old age appear came to my mind, and the dilemma began for me.
What am I going to do now?
'How will I look with more gray hair'
'Will I now have to paint my hair?
'... And if I take them off, will they notice?
And as the days went by, more and more gray hair came out, they continued to grow naturally, ignoring my concern and my dilemma...
Until one day I decided to take them off, and then I silently stared at them and then I looked in the mirror, and I said to myself, .... 'if this is what it's like with a couple of gray hairs, I can't imagine when I reach 40'....
We definitely deceive ourselves and we are ashamed of our own human nature, we fight and fight against it believing that by denying its nature we are going to be happy.
I felt very sorry for myself because I realized that the problem was never my gray hair, but the shame of believing that I am getting old....
And this made me reflect a lot, and I asked myself why do we do it? If it's just our nature expressing itself through us, there's nothing to feel sorry about.
Growing old should not be shameful because it is our own human nature manifesting itself, and there is nothing wrong with it, what happens is that in our culture and in today's world where appearance is valued more than essence. We are always sold the beauty and youth. And for me there is nothing wrong with that, only that in the end we are not rejecting ourselves, denying ourselves and pretending to be what we are not.
We should always ask ourselves if we really accept ourselves as we are.
If we really love ourselves, an honest answer may lead us to reflect and see ourselves from the point of view of love and not from the point of view of comparison
The canons of beauty always demand us to be "beautiful" and if we do not live up to that demand we are simply not attractive.
Unfortunately many of us fall into those fashion traps where we are practically told what to wear to be looked at.
Usually women are the ones who suffer from these complexes of age, old age and "always being beautiful".
Frivolously the food industries make their business at the cost of our own ignorance telling us subliminally that it is not good to be ourselves.
You have to put on makeup, you have to dress well, walk well, be slim or thin, with a fitness body.
Yes, we have to take care of our physical appearance, but from love and acceptance, not for others to look at us and accept us because then that would not be self-love, but to seek approval.
