A film that represents autumn
Autumn is one of the seasons that represents that the inevitable change is approaching, that the process of life is coming to an end and the inevitable death is waiting. But, autumn teaches us that this is a process that every living being goes through to give a chance to new ones. A chance to genuinely enjoy life and perhaps leave a mark on this earth by our actions no matter how small they may be, although this is not so important at the end of the day.
So, thinking about what autumn represents to me, looking for a film title that fits this was a bit difficult. Because, I didn't remember many movies where the leaves were falling from the trees. I remembered that they turn yellow or orange when they fall. From here i remembered the movie Coco because of the path of leaves that families make from the graves of the deceased to their homes where their altars are.
This film represents the Day of the Dead in Mexico (November 2nd) in the middle of autumn. A tradition that has expanded to various parts of the world. Where the living unite to remember their deceased, some paint themselves or dress up to look like skeletons, i see that it has several meanings some like facing their fear of death, others use it as a way to channel their feelings with their deceased and use different colors to paint themselves as well as to decorate and each one of them has its respective meaning.
The Movie
Coco is a wonderful movie where a young boy Miguel Rivera longs to be a guitarist like one of his great heroes Ernesto de la Cruz. Miguel has been secretly practicing the guitar on his own, watching his hero do the proper hand movements. He learns that on the Day of the Dead there is going to be a talent contest in the town square and is encouraged to play at the event. But, there is a catch, Miguel's whole family hates music, they can't hear or see anyone play a musical instrument, because they reprimand him. This is because his great-great-grandmother was abandoned by a musician. Thus would begin Miguel's adventure in search of his musical roots.
Analyzing better the plot of the film, i would also think that the story is focused on Coco, Miguel's great-grandmother. Miguel's adventures make him understand the importance of remembering the dead, he knows that forgetting a loved one in life implies that they disappear completely, even from the plane of the dead and he realizes that his grandmother Coco is beginning to forget his father, the musician who "abandoned" them, no one in the family but Coco remembers this musician who sang to her when she was a child.
The story becomes a race against the clock for Miguel to return home and help his grandmother Coco to remember. Plus his own life is at stake. He must return to the world of the living before the day of the dead ends.
About the movie
This film has a great story that leaves as main protagonists the many Mexican families who shared their traditions with Pixar and from there with the whole world. This is one of the most pleasing themes of the film, to be able to learn from these traditions and that they have magnificent teachings for us and I would say that the one that stands out the most is to be able to honor the memory of our ancestors, create a tribute to them and keep them in our hearts.
Whenever i watch this movie i try not to leave out of my memory any person who has crossed my path in life, good or bad. It makes me very nostalgic to think that a person could disappear as it happens in the plane of the dead when they are forgotten by the living in the film.
The movie has many great scenes, but the one i like the most is when Miguel sings to his great-grandmother Coco and she remembers that this song was sung to her by her father when she was a child. When this happens it fills me with joy to know that her dad in the plane of the dead will no longer disappear.

Una película que represente otoño
Otoño es una de las estaciones que representa que el inevitable cambio se acerca, que el proceso de vida llega a su fin y la inevitable muerte está a la espera. Pero, otoño nos enseña que esto es un proceso por el que todo ser vivo pasa para darle la oportunidad a otros nuevos. Una oportunidad para disfrutar la vida genuinamente y tal vez dejar una marca en esta tierra por nuestras acciones sin importar que tan pequeñas sean, aunque esto al final de todo no es tan importante.
Entonces, pensando en lo que otoño representa para mí, buscar un título de película que se adapte a esto, me fue algo difícil. Porque, no recordaba muchas películas donde las hojas estuvieran cayendo de los árboles. Recordé que estas se ponen amarillas o naranjas al caer. De aquí me llegó a la memoria la película de Coco por el camino de hojas que hacen las familias desde las tumbas de los difuntos hasta sus casas donde están sus altares.
Esta película representa el día de los muertos en México (02 de noviembre) en pleno otoño. Una tradición que se ha expandido a varias partes del mundo. Donde los vivos se unen para recordar a sus difuntos, algunos se pintan o disfrazan para parecer esqueletos, veo que tiene varios significados algunos como enfrentar su temor a la muerte, otros lo usan como una forma de canalizar sus sentimientos con sus difuntos y usan distintos colores tanto para pintarse como para decorar y cada uno de ellos tiene su respectivo significado.
La Película
Coco es una película maravillosa donde un niño Miguel Rivera ansía ser guitarrista como uno de sus grandes héroes Ernesto de la Cruz. Miguel ha estado practicando a la guitarra en secreto por su propia cuenta, viendo como su héroe hace los movimientos de manos apropiadas. Se entera que el día de los muertos va haber un concurso de talentos en la plaza del pueblo y es animado para que toque en el evento. Pero, hay un inconveniente, toda la familia de Miguel odia la música, no pueden escuchar, ni ver a alguien tocar un instrumento musical, porque lo reprenden. Esto debido a que su tatarabuela fue abandonada por un músico. Así comenzaría la aventura de Miguel en busca de sus raíces musicales.
Analizando mejor la trama de la película también pensaría que la historia está enfocada en Coco la bisabuela de Miguel. Las aventuras de Miguel, lo van haciendo entender la importante de rememorar a los muertos, él sabe que olvidar a un ser querido en vida implica que desaparezca por completo, incluso del plano de los muertos y se da cuenta de que su abuela Coco está empezando a olvidar a su papá, el músico que los “abandonó”, nadie de la familia más que Coco recuerda a este músico que le cantaba cuando era niña.
La historia se convierte en una carrera contra reloj para que Miguel vuelva a casa y ayude a su abuela Coco a recordar. Además de que su propia vida está en juego. Deberá regresar al mundo de los vivos antes de que el día de los muertos finalice.
Sobre la película
Esta película posee una gran historia que deja como principales protagonistas a las múltiples familias mexicanas que compartieron sus tradiciones con Pixar y de ahí con todo el mundo. Esto es uno de los temas que más agrada de la película, poder aprender de estas tradiciones y que tienen magníficas enseñanzas para nosotros y diría yo, que la que más resalta es la de poder honrar la memoria de nuestros antepasados, crear un homenaje para ellos y tenerlos en nuestros corazones.
Siempre que veo esta película trato de no dejar fuera de la memoria a ninguna persona que se me ha cruzado en la vida, buena o mala. Me da mucha nostalgia pensar que una persona pudiera desaparecer como ocurre en el plano de los muertos al ser olvidados por los vivos dentro de la película.
La película tiene muchas escenas grandiosas, pero la que más me gusta es cuando Miguel le canta a su bisabuela Coco y ella recuerda que esa canción se la cantaba su papá cuando era niña. Cuando ocurre esto me emociona al saber que su papá en el plano de los muertos ya no desaparecerá.
