Now during bird Migration a lot of different birds stop their migration flight and they search for food and water on some known spots. Today I visited one of these spots with Stefan and we met Jiri there and we where lucky even though the water there was pretty low. The gravel pit where we found this little wader is a good spot for water birds species and waders like this little friend here. But since the water level is very low and there are steep slopes down to the water it is a little bit difficult to get the right angle for photographing the birds since you nearly always take pictures from way above the water level.

With a little patience and luck it is still possible to get some nice pictures like these, but the birds have to cooperate and move in the right spot so the shooting angle of the photo is not so bad. And I had the luck that the bird did this today. 馃檪

And another circumstance that helped me today with the nice pictures was the setting sun was just in the right angle to provide this beautiful light that makes the pictures a lot better. The correct light situation is so important with wildlife photography and for several minutes we really had a very delightful light provided by the sun. Since the birds where not really bothered by us we could get pretty close too, of course my clothes got very dirty due to the fact I layed down in the mud to lower my position as good as possible. But what don't I do for a good photo. 馃槂

We stayed there till sunset and afterwards we had a chat with Jiri about birds we found in the last weeks and that it was a hard time and we only had less luck in the last weeks in terms of Bird photography. He is more the ornithologist who mainly watches the birds and only occasionally takes some pictures while on the other hand Stefan and I are more the photographers and less the ornithologists.

How much I would like to have an own small Pond where I could build a hide for bird photography on my own and take some closeup pictures of birds from my own hide. Like Stefano Ianiro has. I was watching his youtube videos and I am bit jealous about the beautiful birds he has and the pond he build to attract some nice birds to his hide. Be sure to check out his videos he has a very good quality of Video and pictures. I am a bit jealous.
