Hello friends of @weekendexperiences, today I come to share with you about a very sad experience that I have been able to witness these days when I have been able to visit the beach, due to my children's school vacations.
It has caused me quite indignation to see how there can be such unconscious and inhumane people who go to the beaches and leave any amount of garbage in the sand and its surroundings. I can tell you that I consider myself a beach lover just like my children and when we go with time I try to bring them some snack and water, but I can tell you that my beach bags are always loaded with any type of garbage that we get in the surroundings of where we are located, with this we know that we are taking care of these wonderful spaces.
But in two visits ago to my beloved Playa el Agua which is located in the town where we live, I have been able to get any amount of garbage in the sand, causing a great impression because those of us who are from here know that this is one of the main beaches where every year hundreds of turtles come to lay their eggs and not only for that but because we know that all of them are in danger of extinction, a turtle recently stranded on a neighboring beach and when they began the investigation process to see what was the reason for his death, they were achieved with a large amount of plastic stuck in his esophagus, that was the reason for his death, because the turtles feed on jellyfish and in the water they confuse plastic bags with jellyfish.
I tell you that on many occasions both my children and I have been present in releases of hatchlings after their birth, it is a wonderful experience, it is something very beautiful and significant, my children enjoy this process and they also know that of 1000 hatchlings released only 1 It manages to reach adulthood, that is, at the age of 25 and they will be able to return to their birth beach to spawn, since they were very young I have taken them because as soon as they notify us of some release and we can, we are supporting them.
Last weekend when we went to the beach to walk our pet Roco, we took advantage of the exit and with some empty bags that we found in the sand, my daughter and I began to collect garbage, as much as we could that was closer to the water. higher up there was much more waste, my daughter told me "Mom we have to come, but with bigger bags because these are not enough"
Dear friends, in these times it is very important to raise awareness of the damage we do to the ecosystem by throwing waste in places that are not suitable for it, in this case the beach is a sacred place where we want to go and get it clean, it is important to educate our children because It is the future generations that will take over from us and if they see in us these types of acts, surely they will also do it great.
It is also urgent to inform and raise awareness among tourists who visit the beaches every year, because many times they believe that because they are paying at a hotel they are entitled to leave their waste on the sand for someone else to pick it up, garbage that after the tide rises for hours at night these are dragged to the sea. It is also necessary that those of us who live near the beaches, as well as those whose main source of income comes from working on the beaches, such as fishermen, masseurs, food and dry goods vendors, understand that together we can maintain these cleaner spaces since the livelihood of each family depends largely on it.
In this case, with nothing to fear, I went to a beach club that lives on our beach and asked to speak with a supervisor and I took him to the shore so that he could witness with his eyes what was happening, which he did not like, but In my conscience is the satisfaction of being able to contribute a grain of sand in order to keep the beaches clean and to safeguard the lives of these species of turtles in danger of extinction. The supervisor told me that after collecting all the furniture from the arena, they sweep everything until there is no waste, I can't say if it's true or not, because I wasn't going to stay there to wait for them to do their job, it was already night, what is true is that by that time the tide had already risen and a lot of rubbish was going to the beach, so it is possible that if they cleaned up, but before that a large amount of rubbish had gone to the beach.
