We planted many raspberry bushes in our garden last year and added to our crop this year. We’ve had an abundant harvest this year, which the children have already harvested and eaten straight from the bush! 😋
The photo below is of our own raspberry bushes earlier in the spring, when we still had raspberries growing on them. The photo above is of raspberries bought from the market today, ready to eat for dessert. Our children eat punnets every week throughout the summer.
We like to add fresh raspberries as a topper to cereal and pancakes. Frozen raspberries can be added to smoothies and used to prepare jam as they are cheaper to buy in bulk all year around.
Raspberries are high in fibre and packed with nutrients including vitamins B, C, E and K, manganese, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, potassium and copper. They contain high levels of anti-oxidants, have anti-inflammatory properties and may decrease signs of ageing.
Did you know that you can also drink red raspberry leaf tea? It is reputed to tone the uterus and aid pregnant women in labour, @fleur 🍃
