Unfortunately, I found out today that an old friend of mine I went to school with many years ago took his life the other day. I don't know the exact details but it was known he has had an ongoing battle with drugs. His family had cut all ties as he burned those bridges. Of course, there were the usual rumors that went around about what happened but it was all just he said she said nonsense.
It is very unfortunate what had happened. Suicide is such a sad horrible topic but this time of year tends to weigh really heavy on those who feel alone. Many of those people don鈥檛 even realize they aren鈥檛 actually alone but when they are lost in their own head it鈥檚 hard to see the light.
In my friend's case, I don鈥檛 know exactly what happens so I can鈥檛 say for sure but I do feel a bit guilty, as a simple phone call could have changed everything. I am not here to carry on about this but to try and take action to point out that there is no need to suffer alone.
If you feel alone please reach out to someone or anyone. It doesn鈥檛 matter if it鈥檚 just been a friend you met here on Steemit or an old childhood friend. In most cases, that person will listen! And the same goes in reverse. It鈥檚 always good to drop in on friends, both old and new. A simple hi on social media or a phone call can potentially save someone from themselves sometimes. It鈥檚 almost effortless if you really break it down.
If you take anything from this post I hope you realize that you are a wonderful person and there are so many people out there that will listen, even if you think your world is broken.
After reading through this post please take the time to reach out to at least three people that you haven鈥檛 talked to in a while cause you might just be the light that person needs to make the holidays a bit more bearable!
