One of the things we miss - probably most - living in McGregor, is access to fresh fish. When I first moved to Cape Town, going on twenty five years ago, fresh fish - in great variety - was easy to come by. And inexpensive. Now it is neither and less so when one lives inland.

So, when friends of ours who run the food side of a local winery had a surfeit that wouldn't keep once the weekend was over, I wasn't looking a gift ~~fish~~ horse in the mouth. So to speak.

It was dropped off after they'd finished service for the weekend and some of it was instantly destined for our Sunday supper.

It's a very long time since I'd had a pair of beauties to play with and simple treatments is best: olive oil, lemon juice, butter, garlic and salt and pepper.

Baked in a hot oven, served with fresh green beans, potato wedges and a green (basil aioli).

A perfect end to the weekend and a good start to the week.
