I have been so busy with my little granddaughter that posting here has taken a back seat. But here I am with a few minutes to give an update on my projects. First, I am teaching a Wednesday night class at church for children, showing them some of the fiber skills a woman would have had in Bible times. After covering spinning and braiding, we tried dyeing. We tied designs using rubber bands, then I used RIT dye with some salt to set the color on the 100% cotton handkerchiefs.
Because there was plenty of dye left over, I also dyed my white dirndlbluse that had a small stain I could not get out. Now it is a lovely deep pink.
At home, I made myself a plaid wrap skirt from some fabric my mom gave me from her stash.
Finally, I got sucked into Facebook Marketplace where I listened to the siren song of yet another vintage (1970s or 80s) Kenmore sewing machine. For $25 I could not pass up a clean machine, all metal load-bearing parts, quality plastic camstack (not the nylon that wears out or cracks) and 2 boxes of original accessories! I am looking forward to comparing the quality of this machine to my many others.
