First reading of the year, The Three-Body Problem, by Cixin Liu
Hola.

Hello.
An exciting read, recommendation from my friend @janaveda, whom I am grateful for making me relive the times when I devoured the novels of Artur Clark and Isaac Asimov one after another.
Mr. Liu Cixin's story brought them to mind, as the same successful formula is used.
It combines the most advanced theories of science that we don't understand much of and some that even half a dozen brains don't understand with fantasy inspired by history.
The opening chapter, set during the Chinese cultural revolution, is most likely taken from reality.
Other details reveal the competition between the different powers and how they spy on and attack each other while pretending to cooperate.
A difference between Western and Chinese culture is the way of facing situations, and while the West bets on immediacy, the Chinese show a proverbial patience that is reflected in the society described in the novel.
I found a certain similarity with the novel The Gods Themselves, where humanity comes into contact with a civilization from another dimension, with advanced technology that offers us unlimited energy at minimal cost. But like any bargain, there is a trick.
The number three present in the title reminded me of another science fiction classic, Date with Rama, where the three represented the aliens.
In the problem of the three bodies, the approach reveals the attitude of a good part of current societies towards the rest of the human race and its relationship with nature and animal species.
Finishing reading the novel, I can't stop thinking about the predicted date for the extraterrestrial attack and the plot of traitors or collaborators with an enemy with as much patience as the proverbial patience of the Chinese.
A reader who enjoys details may well enjoy a slower read and become familiar with the characters. For my part, I hope to enjoy the television series next March, when Netflix releases it, according to the advertising trailer I found on YouTube.
New online games will undoubtedly be encouraged this year and I wouldn't be surprised if one inspired by this story appears.
If you are not a reader, wait until the end of March to find out more about the future alien invasion.
