I have been reading a lot of posts lately where people are worried about the price of steem being down.

As a regular Steemian, is this really something we should care about?

The answer is (mostly) NO, not really

90% of us here are just normal people that do not have heavy investments in here or in crypto

I have a bit but its more of a hobby and more Hodling then anything else.

So when you write your daily article/blog or post a cool picture with some explanation does it really matter if the STEEM price is at 0.9 or at 1.1?

The cryptospace as a whole but bitcoin in particular has been going through some very turbulent times with a lot of cutlery involved (massive amount of forks, possibly a spoon here and there) and this has a big Yo-yo effect on prices.

Would that make your post any different? Would it make you upvote anyone else?

If you are here to invest then this is all very relevant, if you are here to post quality content then it is not.

If you are not buying and you are not selling it should not really matter should it?

there are so many exiting projects going on and in the pipeline that I am absolutely sure that steem will go up and that my 400 might be 500 soon. Woohooo...

Now that was the mostly NO answer.

now here is where it might be different in your case.

• you are a whale (which i doubt, but if you are, feel welcome to upvote this article at 100%) and in this case every cent in value difference is thousands of dollars in worth difference but if its all powered up it still does not matter.
• You DO NOT live in a country like Switzerland (like me) where the minimum wage is about 4000 dollar per month. If you happen to live in a really poor country then STEEM might be a life saver for you and you can maintain your family on a couple of dollars per day. This still does not mean powering down but might mean selling 10 STEEM per week to survive
• there is a life and death situation and you need the extra money (just having to have those new shoes is NOT life and death)

I wish all to be in the first reason and hope none is in either of the last two but know this is not the case. But knowing that STEEM might be a life changing instrument for a lot of people is amazing and knowing that my vote here and there might have helped change someones life for the better is hard to put into words.

The big thing is that a lot of things are relative. For some people in poorer countries I am the whale in real life (even though i am only very average middle class here) So everything just differs from your point of view and I consider myself lucky to be where I am but also blessed that I might help some in my own way here on STEEM
