Juicing is a popular new health practice that I certainly endorse, but with a caution: when drinking the juice, take smaller mouthfuls and hold it in your mouth for a couple of seconds to allow the saliva to engage with it. Assimilation is the key In all nutrition. By allowing the saliva to join with the juice, the body can assimilate more of the nutrient. Most vitamin pills are not food based and are swallowed quickly; therefore I estimate only about 40% of the nutrients are actually assimilated by the body. Switching to food based vitamin sources, like Orac (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) greens and spirulina and mixing them with juice, the assimilation is increased dramatically.
When ingesting new mental material, the same practice is beneficial; take small bits of information and hold it in your mind for a few seconds. This practice will highlight words you do not completely understand or concepts you do not completely comprehend. If you are reading a page and you realize, at the bottom of the page, that, even though you were reading it, you were thinking of something else; go back up the page and you will find a word you do not understand or a concept you do not fully comprehend. When you pass over these kinds of things, the mind shuts off and stops ingesting. The deeper, the more profound, the more complex the information, the more this technique will benefit.
