I see my creative Sunday filled with lots of harmony swarming between pen and pencil to create the sketch of a mandala that after studying it among other mandalas of fellow drummers we will take to a mural.

I am currently participating in a project to rehabilitate a space where we do cultural life a group of women drummers. That place is the old bullring in the city of Caracas Venezuela and in the space where we rehearse according to the locals, there lived a little bull that was spared his life for being very noble, being taken to the savannah so he could live.

Knowing this story we felt a great motivation to vindicate him and so many others, creating sketches to take it to the wall. In my case I make this mandala where I draw freehand inside some drums the silhouette of this noble animal, as well as some women of two styles, one African and the other indigenous, representing our work in that space and the culture that precedes us.

In the same way I represent the European heritage in mandala with the peaks or triangles as a symbol of the Catholic church very marked in our tradition.

By beating the drum we resonate with life, it is the beating of the heart of both the human and the animal. With the drum we revive the ancestral heritage to heal us with its diversity, that sonority is the same wherever we are giving us the certainty that we are all one integrated by the same beat, feel and beat in the musical universe that surrounds us.

And when we percuss from love, the vibration is mostly felt and expansive!

HAPPY WEEKEND!
