Everyone has a story – and all our stories have something in common… we all started from nothing and knew nothing. People want to hear stories. They want to hear OUR stories — they want to know who we are, where we are from, what we are doing, who and what we love, what we have learnt and where we are going. People also want us to hear their story! Being a part of the Steem network is an individual journey for every single one of us and through this initiative we will share our stories not only with all who are already here – hopefully inspiring, guiding and informing them… but doing the same for everyone else in the world too. Through our stories we will prick the curiosity of those who have not yet arrived and illuminate and widen the already open doors to our one in a million blockchain.
We invite and encourage each and every one of you to participate and share your stories too! You can find the "how to" details at the end of this post.
I discovered Steem on 2018, thanks to a friend and former co-worker, he told me that he was sharing content on a social network called Steemit and making some extra money and he was sure that I could also earn money by singing, he encouraged me to open the account. I had to wait about two weeks and I remember thinking... Will I not get the account? (I have never been a very patient person lol)
I remember the emotion I felt when I had access to my account, an emotion that became a great surprise when I realized that I didn't understand absolutely anything! I hadn't had a blog before... I just came to sing (lol) but I immediately understood that it wasn't enough, I had to write, tell my story, listen to the story of others. The adventure had just begun...
One of the first challenges I had to face when I came to Steem was to record myself singing because it was something that didn't make me feel comfortable. I love singing, it has become a passion but even though by that time I was already singing in front of an audience, I didn't like to record myself, much less watch my recordings. But I knew that if I wanted to attract attention I had to sing.
Fear paralyzed me for a while and I looked for excuses not to record, I told myself:
You don't play the guitar well, you don't have a good phone or camera to record, you don't even have a microphone.
I kept on fighting with my inner struggle and my friend always asked me: Have you already uploaded your videos to Steem? I'd say no, but I wouldn't give him any more explanations.
I published some posts after my introductory post: A trip to "La Gran Sabana", a recipe for a cake, a poem and I only received pennies. I was curious to know if sharing any song could get more rewards. I talked to a musician. I bought a second-hand phone and I recorded my first video for the Open Mic. And so it happened:
I got my first $1 on Steem!
The emotion was very big! I had won over my fear and also being rewarded for that with cryptocurrency. From that moment I realized that I was going to be able to make some extra money doing what I like most!
Then started the challenge of editing my videos and my audio, I have received a lot of help and I am improving little by little everyday.
I also had some problems with the markdown (well I still have them lol).
When I started on Steem I had no knowledge about blockchain, thanks to my experience here I consider that now I have good knowledge about all the potential it has.
Steem blockchain is an excellent school to learn. We have a lot of dapps and for example, we can even take our first steps in trading on Steem-Engine.
I like being here because I always learn something new. Although when I think I know a lot about how Steem blockchain works...an update comes and I have to learn about that! :)
I like to share my original songs and covers. I always like to participate in music contests, although nowadays there is not a lot of them, I always try to participate even though I haven't been able to make music lately. But I am going to share music soon! I have used a lot of dapps, for example, I shared my videos/audios on DTube and Dsound for a long time but now I share my videos on 3Speak, a platform I consider very supportive.
I play Steem Monsters and Holybread (and I'm not very good at it lol). To manage my account on the phone I'm currently trying Esteem and I'm going to start trying Steempeak because I've heard many wonderful things about this application
Thanks to Steem I have awakened and improved my poetry and drawing talents, I also like to participate in contests like this one cause I remember my history on Steem and how my life has changed since I am here.
I also follow @theycallmedan I love that he is a positive steemian. I love his good vibes!
My advice is to never give up, there are many opportunities to learn and earn extra money on Steem, plus you will make many great friends during this journey.
You will learn about blockchain, networking, how to be a better artist, a better blogger/vlogger, you will discover new talents, you will enjoy of the talent and human quality of many of the people you will meet at Steem blockchain.
So never stop, do what you love and share it with the world.
Make friends, be nice and help everyone you can, you'll have fun.
One of my special communities is @votovzla, one of the first I joined when I came to Discord. In April 2018 I went to the Steem Meet Up - El Tigre Venezuela, it was an incomparable experience.
I understood the true meaning of a community there.
I had the opportunity to talk about my experience on Steem and sing in front of that great persons, it was so lovely! Among the people I was able to meet are @enrique89,
@samgiset,
@edwardstobia,
@abeba,
@cesar.oat,
@edubeta, among others. And I have made special friends like
@mariichuy,
@miguelmederico,
@alarconr22.arte,
@mballesteros,
@frankches,
@carolinacardoza.
Another community where I like sharing is @PAL, I also had the opportunity to win the Make a Minnow contest and I received a generous delegation so I could curate content for a month. There I met @angelica7,
@geadriana,
@guachoman,
@franz54,
@vensurfer so wonderful people.
I also love being on @RadioSteemit, a very special place with good music and excellent people who always make activities like @avellana,
@drakernoise,
@sacra97,
@maribellrg, among others.
Recently I've been sharing with people from @neoxian city, a very funny city by the way. I have met
@futuremind and @Udezee there :).
I also have a group of musicians and singers that I always love to listen to @elisonr13,
@esthersanchez, and
@exoelias.
I also love the artists like @equipodelta and
@richjr, they are great :)
Some of them are still active on Steem blockchain, human beings with positive energy and I have loved getting to know them.
To Conclude…
This is my Steem story, a journey full of music and beautiful experiences, I am grateful every day I am here because I have learned not to give up, to reinvent myself. I love being on Steem blockchain!
Thanks a lot @Jaynie for this great challenge!
