I might have had another song in mind when I first read this week’s theme, but with everything that’s been happening in my country—as I’m sure you’ve all seen—I guess I’m drawn to this song, which speaks out against silence and urges us to speak up to put an end to injustices.
Hi everyone in the HIVE OPEN MIC community It’s
@eudarcabello here, and this time I’m participating in Week 324, titled The Silence. I didn’t want to leave this post until the last minute—I always do my best to post on time each week, and this time I tried harder than ever, but it still happened. I hope to stay on schedule from now on, for real. The crazy thing is that my graduate school exams are still going strong—this is really driving me nuts. Even though I’m already out of the program because I failed one of my courses, and with my thesis, I’m still kind of lazy—though it’s actually a project for my current job. So even though I’m no longer in the Marine Biology graduate program, its shadow still haunts me. Let’s hope it ends soon so I can see if another opportunity for graduate school comes up.The song I chose is one of the ones I like the most or that moved me the most because of its lyrics, but it also reflects a bit more on going against a culture that needs to change for the good of its people. To be honest, I never really took the time to learn it all the way, but it wasn’t until now, when I read the lyrics, that I realized they weren’t that hard to learn—it’s as if they’d always been in my head. The song was made popular by my favorite Brazilian singer, Isabela Souza, and is titled “Silence.” I didn’t want to keep thinking about whether another song might come to mind, given how my choice turned out for this week—or rather, how little I was able to record. Without a doubt, I needed to do this; perhaps it’s dedicated to the current situation my country is going through, so it seemed fitting.

I know this isn't the place to talk about politics or related topics, but what I can say is that this tragedy in Venezuela has brought out both the best and worst sides of society. Without going into details, I just want to say: please take care of your children, and make sure that all efforts to support our brothers and sisters in need actually reach them.
Another sensitive topic to discuss is religion, but it’s frustrating to see how those who feel morally superior and righteous claim that these tragedies are divine punishment. I’m not a regular reader of the Bible, and I don’t claim to fully understand God’s message, but what I do believe is that we must respect differences as long as they don’t cause harm. What I am certain of is that no religion is free from some very dark secrets behind the scenes; no matter how hard they try to hide theirs, human evil is everywhere. So don’t try to make it seem like any religion is perfect and without flaws—sadly, that simply isn’t the case.
I try to let all the things in my life flow, I might try to force everything a little bit, like with the Marine Biology postgraduate course or trying to be constant in Hive, but whatever ends up turning out, I know I will know how to accept it. Grateful for all the good things that have happened to me and the bad things that I have gotten rid of, for your support, I hope you also visit my other posts, good luck with your content and see you next week.
