¡Hola Chicos!
Hello Guys!
In our last baking class we were learning how to make two delicious recipes. The first one was the zuliano bread, which I shared the recipe and preparation in a previous post, and today I'm going to share with you the second one which is the coconut bread.
I had never had the opportunity to eat this type of bread, I'm not really a fan of trying new flavours and types of food, but thanks to this course I have realised that this world that I have not wanted to discover has a lot to offer, like this sweet bread.
I love attending this course because every class I learn different techniques, and as I mentioned before, it has helped me to understand that all breads have a different way of making them, something that I was completely unaware of, because I thought it was just a matter of mixing and that's it.
So well I share with you the ingredients and then let's go with the preparation so that we learn together to make this delicious coconut bread. ♥
INGREDIENTES || INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg de harina de trigo todo uso
- 100 gr de coco deshidratado
- 3 gr de sal
- 300 gr de azúcar
- 30 gr de levadura
- 100 gr de margarina
- 450 gr de agua
- 1 huevo
- 1 cucharada de vainilla
- 1 cucharada de esencia de coco
Para la decoración:
- 50 gr de coco deshidratado
- 50 gr de azúcar
- Agua
- 1 kg all-purpose wheat flour
- 100 g of dehydrated coconut
- 3 g salt
- 300 g sugar
- 30 g yeast
- 100 g margarine
- 450 g water
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon of coconut essence
For the decoration:
- 50 grams of desiccated coconut
- 50 grams of sugar
- Water
We start by first weighing and measuring all the ingredients. It is important to always sift the flour to avoid lumps in the dough.
On the other hand, we have previously mixed the egg with the vanilla and coconut essences (this is because in the school there are not enough cups to work with and sometimes we have to mix the ingredients before the preparation to save space).
As I have already mentioned, we rotate the kneading of the breads because there are 34 students and the idea is that we all have the opportunity to do it.
In this class I didn't do it because I had a cut on my finger that prevented me from doing it, but I did get involved in as much as possible, such as weighing the ingredients.
Then we are going to hydrate the yeast in the water and mix with a whisk until it is completely dissolved.
Place the flour in a large bowl that allows us to knead, add the desiccated coconut.
In the centre, pour the yeast mixture together with the sugar, egg and essences. Mix until the sugar is dissolved and then begin to integrate with the flour.
After the flour is almost completely integrated, add the margarine and continue kneading. Finally add the salt.
Transfer to the table and continue kneading until the dough is smooth. If we notice that it sticks to our hands and the table, we add a little flour and continue kneading.
Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
After this time, we deglaze and assemble the bread portions. This bread weighs about 60 grams. It doesn't look like much, but they tend to rise quite a lot during baking.
Once the balls are assembled, mix the desiccated coconut and the sugar in a bowl and leave it for decoration. Put the water in another bowl.
First dip the ball in the water, soaking it halfway, and then bathe it in the coconut and sugar.
Place them on a greased tray, preferably with butter, and leave to rest for 40 minutes.
After this time, put them in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
When the time in the oven has elapsed, take them out and leave to rest. Then unmould and we are ready to enjoy this delicious coconut bread.
The ones we made did not rise very much because due to time constraints we could not let them rise long enough.
I hope you liked this recipe and that you can make it at home to enjoy as a snack. I assure you that you will love them. ♥
