Me encanta -

Espero les guste.

Hello, everyone!

Today I was inspired by some bookmarks featuring kawaii kittens, and since you’re used to me always showing them in pairs, my other inspiration is a bit more floral. I love anything that’s colorful and cute. I really enjoyed this activity—connecting with my inner child when I’m very stressed helps me a lot to regain my peace of mind and calm my overactive mind.

I think painting them by hand makes them more special than if I’d printed or bought them. Someone asked me, “Who reads books in this digital age?” I replied: “A few more people—and I include myself among them.” It’s a sacred habit, just like coffee. The light from phone screens and computer monitors hurts my eyes, and spending all day working in front of them makes me tired, which is why reading a physical book is still so rewarding. I also love writing in notebooks and taking notes, and now that I’ve gone back to college to earn another degree, they’re more useful to me than ever.

I love it when I share them and people like them and let me know. Plus, when I open my notebooks and one pops out, they smile at me and ask where I got them, to which I reply: “I make them myself, and I give them to you as gifts.”

I love it—

I hope you like them.

The white cardstock is opaline; you can use whichever kind you like. If you want it to be sturdier, place a sheet of thick cardstock underneath.

Mark out two strips 6 centimeters wide and the full length of the cardstock.

For the kawaii kitten bookmark:

Sketch the design on one of the strips with a pencil.

Start coloring each of the kittens. The first color I chose was gray, then orange, followed by green, then yellow, and finally purple. I tried to follow a color palette guide to help me achieve color harmony and avoid choosing odd colors.

Once you’ve finished coloring each kitten, outline the line art with a black fine-tip marker.

Cut out the piece, following the outlines of the kittens and leaving a space at the top that you’ll round off.

Use the hole punch to punch a hole in the center of the open space.

Take a piece of jute, thread it through the hole, and tie it with a simple knot; trim off the excess jute. And with that, we’ve finished our first bookmark.

Floral bookmark:

Following the previous steps, sketch the figures you want to create on the second sheet of cardstock.

Start coloring; this time, I organized my colors and began from the center of the flower.

These markers are a bit tricky to blend, but some are watercolor-compatible—those would be ideal. I’ll buy some soon.

Bendiciones.

Once you've finished painting all the flowers and the butterfly, trace the outline with the marker.

I'm not sure if it's because I have trouble seeing colors clearly, but the butterfly was getting lost in the design, so I decided to change one of its colors—I think it looks better now.

Now cut out the piece along the entire edge, leaving a rounded space at the top.

Use the hole punch to make a hole at the top. Take a piece of jute and thread it through the hole, tie a knot, and trim off the excess jute.

Now we have our two beautiful bookmarks.

I hope you like them. Blessings.
