Ever wonder why that day above others makes us all kind of, bla? Some people I imagine, love Mondays. For a parent, during school session, it can be a real challenge to get the kids up and ready after a long fun weekend. Most of ours was spent in the river and on bikes. Yes, bikes! Luna and Khaldeesi wanted to go for a bike ride and it turned into an adventure. I have this carseat type bit on the back of mine for Freya to sit in.

First off, I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON. Unless you count early in the morning or it's hunting season. So, just for me to get up and haul some children to various places being their chauffeur, is a serious challenge. But I do it anyway.

Some of it is because of legalities concerning education, others is because I try to put my best foot forward for them in their success. I don't want to get up, I don't want to act all cheery, but I do, for their sake. I don't feel it is an actual lie, but rather, pushing through the rough patches to get to the good. Staying positive in a time of stressful situations.

Now that picture should make sense. We have to learn to balance the good times, enjoy the fire out of them even, and remember that not all our time is pleasant. So, there is no point in making the bad times super bad. That box of rocks there, is a reminder for me. It was a birthday gift I got this year from Luna. They are painted 'heartstones'. The different colors remind me to show love in all situations. When I am envious (the green) or angry (the red), I still try to maintain a balance.

And that is my wisdom imparted to me by a 6 year old. It's amazing all the things I have learned from my kids. More than any school teacher could have ever tried to get across. Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention? And that's the thing, that's the underlying magnet to your moral compass.

Sometimes we get caught up in the moment and forget to pay attention to how we are really feeling and if it merits a strong enough reaction to harbor ill will. Get you a pocket full of heartstones, maybe it'll help you remember and in the mean time - REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when I'm wading in a river.
