Kindness is a powerful act that can mend hearts, turn pitiful situations to more pleasant ones, and the like, to name but a few. Kindness is something we all need; a small act of kindness can change our lives positively, and that's why we must, as individuals, adopt a lifestyle that's focused on helping people around us and showing genuine kindness to people in need. An act of kindness can go a long way in people's lives, and we shouldn't only help because we want something in return. Through my life I've been shown kindness, and I've also done it to others in return. Below I'll talk about some of them.
I've on several occasions been shown kindness beyond my comprehension, an act of kindness that I personally know I don't deserve and yet got. On any free opportunity I get, I can't help but talk about one of the highest levels of kindness I got from someone; the dearest to my heart is regarding the lady who gave me accommodation during my first year in school despite the fact that I was a stranger to her, yet she abode me, gave me shelter, and still catered to my feeding throughout the period I stayed with her. These acts of kindness are something I still can't comprehend and always remember to this date, especially because one, they're from a stranger, and secondly, I'm of the opposite gender to her.
On the other hand, I've also shown kindness to people around me, such as those close to me and total strangers. On several occasions as a teacher, I've come across students who are about to sit for exams like WAEC or NECO but were unable to pay for the registration due to one issue or another, probably because the parents couldn't afford it or maybe such students don't have parents that care about their education situations. In such situations, if aware and if I have the means, I've helped out some students in such cases multiple times. It's an act of kindness. I've never talked about this to anyone except the students I helped prior to this moment, and that's because kindness doesn't have to be loud or known by others.
Talking about the act of kindness I can do this week to people around me, what I can do is still related to students, unless something else shows up. But regarding the students, I've some students who live several miles away from the school and yet walk to and from school on a daily basis; for these students I sometimes pay their transport fare or lap them to their destination, if their house is in the same direction my house is.
