Visits on the roof, street felines and an instinct lesson with quails

Hello, #caturday friends! Greetings from encuentro@encuentro wishing you a great weekend. Today I want to tell you how the day unfolded around here, full of surprises, felines, and a small scare that luckily ended very well.¡Hola, amigos de #caturday!

Early in the morning, I set out to leave. The first thing I saw when I looked up was Peluchón, a yellow cat who often comes to visit the house. He settles on the roof, looks for shade among the tiles, and takes very long naps taking advantage of the tranquility of the morning.

I went out to run my errands and, as always happens when one is paying attention, I ran into several stray kitties along the way. I couldn't help taking a few photos of them as I crossed the path.

My main objective when going out was to look for some baby quail birds. The idea is to raise them at home to have a fresh protein source thanks to their eggs.

When I returned with the box full of little quails, my two companions, Catirrucio and Cariñosito, were super curious. They approached the box with a look of serious bewilderment. They moved their ears from side to side and sniffed the air trying to understand what those little creatures cheeping inside were.

I set about preparing and arranging the cage where the birds would stay. At that moment lcampesina@lcampesina was with me witnessing everything. Cariñosito stealthily approached to take a closer look. It was a matter of a second: his wild hunting instinct overcame him. He jumped decisively to capture one of the little quails directly from the box.

lcampesina@lcampesina screamed in shock. Hearing the scream, Cariñosito reacted, "woke up" from that instinctive trance, and ran off to hide immediately. Fortunately, he didn't touch or harm the small quails at all.

The rest of the morning was marked by feline guilt. He spent almost half a day withdrawn and ashamed. At lunchtime, he didn't come near us at all; he kept his distance like someone who knows perfectly well they made a mistake.

To show him there were no hard feelings and that we understood it was a natural reaction of his nature, later I offered them both a little liver.

Recreation of the tense moment

Upon receiving his bite, Cariñosito finally relaxed and returned to normal. From that moment until now, they haven't tried to climb onto the cage again. Apparently, they already understood that these new members are also part of the family.

I hope you have a happy Saturday with your four-legged loved ones!
