There are many things that if we were opportune to know earlier, we would have missed certain experiences that may be beneficial both to us and to others around us. I believe that every disappointment or mistake that we fall victim to, comes to make us better versions of ourselves. This is why we shouldn't always see failure or lack of results as bad luck, it's also a process.
When I came to Hive, I did not have any knowledge of setting goals both on the chain and even in my personal life, I just do things randomly and I discovered that I was not getting the kind of results I have been craving.
But as time went on, I started hearing about setting goals from Hive learners community, I read through many posts and I saw what I was missing out, I was lucky enough that God helped me to take seriously the message I got from the posts of others and to be frank I started seeing results.
Setting goals on Hive is very important both to newbies and to those who are already in the system. I won't lie to you sometimes we are tempted to feel like even without setting down goals we can have what we want to achieve. Well, that can be true in rare cases but oftentimes, it's a big setup.
Goals, help us trace our growth and know where we need to put more effort. Never in your life start up anything without setting goals, even if you are progressing you will not notice it.
Goals will help you achieve your targets and even if you are not able to hit it the way you want, you will be somewhere close, because it always creates the consciousness of having something to achieve which will make you do more to achieve it. Not having a goal, on the other hand, can make you feel relaxed and that is a very bad thing.
Here are some tips that may help you set a better goal this year.
1 . Don't ever set goals you know you can't achieve: Hive is not a place of competition, we are all here to grow. Never try to compare yourself with anyone on the chain. You know your strengths, you know what you can achieve, so, set your goals after considering those things.
Don't ever try to say because someone set their goals like this I am also setting mine like that. No, start small, I don't mean you should set simple goals that will make you lazy, no. But set goals that will spur you to work and you are sure you can make it a reality. Often times you will discover that at the end of the day, you are even able to achieve the goal and even get extra of what you wanted.
I am sure results like that will make you do better next time But In a situation where you set something you can't achieve, you will feel disappointed at the end of the day which is not good for you at all.
2 . Never stand-alone: don't be an island of knowledge, have people who will motivate you in your journey. Connect with people who have the ability to give you energy even when all strength seems to fail.
Only God knows how many times, my friends held my hands and motivated me to write in the days that I was feeling weak. Some of them took it as a responsibility to always ask me if I had written a post and engaged for the day. They also take it upon themselves, to share updates with me just to ensure I am growing and I do the same to them too. If you stand alone, I assure you, you will not go far and your chances of achieving your goals will be less.
3 . Don't beat yourself up when it doesn't seem to be working: it's not every that is Christmas, of a truth somedays you might not see upvotes, and some you won't be able to meet your targets, it happens, please don't beat yourself and don't give up. One thing I realized with Hive is those who are diligent and hard-working always turn out to win at the end of the day.
Don't stay in one place, Hive is a world on its own explore, ask questions, don't be a boss, drop your pride, and reach out to people who seem to be ahead of you to guide you through when and where necessary. This is how you grow, this is also how you tend to achieve your goals faster.
Finally, don't be lazy, surround yourself with positive vibes, and ensure you finish the tasks ahead of you before you start thinking of pleasure. Let your mind be fixed on what you want to achieve rather than what you are to enjoy momentarily. Train your mind to understand the relevance of your goals and the benefits attached to achieving them
