One of my new favorite pass-times is watching videos of popular singing show the voice.
While the U.S version is by far the most popular, my love for singing talents and good music is universal and I have no specific geographical preferences.
The show so far has witnessed 17 seasons in total in the U.S so far, with the last of them completed about a week ago (BTW I don't think Todd should've won).
It definitely keeps me entertained, also reminds me of how utterly talentless I am. Winners of the voice U.S. go home with a cool $100k and a 'recording contract'.
That's where my intrigue starts. Am utterly baffled as to why none of the Voice contestants since it started April 2011 have achieved mainstream fame. Despite the lure in terms of Fans and sponsors, None of the Voice contestants have made it big.
The most successful so far is Jordan Smith, but I reckon you've not heard of him if you don't watch the show. Yet the show goes on.
Even more baffling is the insane revenue it pulls in, so much that they're able to pay
coaches( Celebrity singers who 'guide' contestants on their team throughout the competition) crazy huge amounts of money.
While I still love the show, am afraid it has become nothing more than a grand karaoke competition, and anyone who is serious about their music career might just be better not taking that route.
Should I write an article about it again I'll explain why and how I feel the voice can help their winners to superstardom.
