Well Taraz, if you're reading this, you and your ilk have finally put me on this bandwagon.
Lately I've been denying myself of a lot of luxuries, along with a few necessities for a purpose. Having hit rock bottom sometime last year with my finances, I decided to consciously put myself on track.
This has not been easy. There is always the temptation to exceed my budget and plunge me right back to where I started. I've managed to hold up my end of the bargain so far, and have been pretty disciplined with my finances. Denying myself of certain things made a few things clear.
First, is that there are a lot of things I can probably do without, even those previously considered necessary.
Second is that while trying not to exceed my financial limit is difficult, there is always available the capacity to adapt to circumstance.
Finally, no one gets wealthy by being a debtor (I think), so cutting down my debt has been really satisfying.
Few things teach the importance of patience more than financial discipline in times of relative scarcity. I certainly hope it pays off better by actually creating some measure of wealth in the future, with wealth being that I don't have to worry about debts.
