I had a bit of an agonistic phase when I was in college. It lasted for about 3 years post graduation before I came back to Christ. While this is not a religious post, religion has certainly helped me with ridding myself of complex thoughts that made my life, well, complicated.
Irrespective of what our beliefs are though, I do think simplifying that much which can be simplified is the way to a satisfying and productive life. We have been so technical with various practices that it has become a default setting in the way we reason. Some of us have come to take pride in making erstwhile simple things really complex.
We intellectualize and sometimes tend to overdo it. I do think that while we shouldn't be afraid to ask complex questions, we must realize that complex questions only lead to complex answers, which may not necessarily be correct. Beyond their correctness, it leads us down a path where the only benefits sometimes is the intellectual 'superiority' we get when we talk about these things.
I believe that if there's a simple enough solution to a complex problem that leaves all stakeholders satisfied, then by all means. Our really short lives become even shorter when we try to provide an explanation for everything. If it's your calling to harp on complex issues with the aim of simplifying them then and you have the wherewithal by all means go ahead.
For some of us though, a simple enough life provides the best kind of satisfaction.
