Two job stories. The first had a recruitment process I could only describe as less than ideal and my stay there was especially so. I consider myself quite hardworking and do my job to the best of my abilities. Yet in my entire life I never felt as underappreciated and overworked as I was during my stay on the job. I actively started seeking out other opportunities and faced some disappointments before it finally came.

The interviews for the job were nothing but quality conversations that felt more like a formality than anything else. The offer came in record time - improved pay, bigger responsibility than my previous, and more importantly a healthy environment that I've enjoyed pouring my abilities to. The contrast of those two tales makes me wonder sometimes, because those have been my actual lived career experiences over the last few years.

I've just been reflecting on how some of my better wins have had come at very little cost to me. Things that am pretty sure some others have worked incredibly hard to achieve, just seemed to have found it's way to me by some manner of fortune. Of course I have had my share of difficult and disappointing moments, but there are also a number of blessings today that I acknowledge.

The beauty about these blessings was how much effort was actually put into actualising them. While it's not like I completely relied on luck and they certainly would not have come without some effort, the ease was what particularly arrested my attention. Right from the opportunity stage to the time it took for it to fully materialize. That's what a blessing sounds like to me.
