I’ve been home for a long time now. Does that mean I can’t go out and do something else? Absolutely not. The truth is, I love what I do. I enjoy it all. I’m the one who decides for myself. I’ll do what I want — as long as I don’t hurt anyone else.
I started my day with healthy food — why not? I didn’t really have anything else, so lawiswis and sweet potato leaves came to mind. They were easy to cook and way healthier than instant food. The only not-so-healthy part was the vinegar and soy sauce.
I tried to multitask. I was cleaning the house while also getting the laundry ready and cooking rice.
It was too much to do all at once. I finished my drama at 10 AM, then started the laundry. Papa took care of lunch because I was occupied. I finished washing at 2 PM. It always takes a while because I get sleepy. Since we don’t have a washing machine, I wash by hand and it takes longer.
Another Bountiful Harvest from our Backyard
I was going to harvest more avocados to give to the neighbors and my nephews. I also picked a few green oranges, lol. They don’t turn orange. They remain green even when ripe. The guavas look delicious here. It’s a shame we don’t like eating them, so they just get overripe and fall.
Mama's Single—Fruit Guava
I don’t know why, but Mama’s plants always turn out like this. Just like this guava. When she plants them, they barely bear any fruit.
The weeds took over my sweet potato garden.
I was so exhausted from everything I did that I decided to leave the weeds for now. I’ll do it tomorrow instead.
Playing with the naughty pets.
I was about to rest, but then the power went out. Gosh, it was so hot and all I wanted was to sleep. So I ended up playing with my naughty pets instead. They entertained me, and just like that my tiredness disappeared.
Dinner Viand Ideas - Adobong Takway
Life in the province is simple, not fancy. But every day we struggled to decide what viand to cook because we had no fish or meat. It was always vegetables for every meal. Papa brought takway from the farm. Mama cleaned and sliced them, and I did the cooking. It’s not easy to cook because if you’re not careful, it makes you itchy.
I finished everything, but it wasn’t dark yet so I went out to check the garden. I started pulling weeds.
I didn’t get to finish, but at least I started. The sweet potato leaves are full of holes from pests, and we don’t use any pesticides.
Papa was searching for his missing baby chickens.
This was the third hen that lost her chicks. We don’t know what happened to them. We thought an animal might have eaten them. It was such a loss. But Papa didn’t see them anywhere. He ended up bringing two ripe pineapples home instead, and that’s what we had for dinner.
