I think that every household should have the essential oil of Peppermint, which is the first aid when we need to cool down. But that's, not the only way of usage.
I can speak from my personal experience when I tell you, that on hot days when I feel like I am about to melt down, I immediately sprinkle myself with a mixture of cold water and essential oil of peppermint which immediately starts to pleasantly cool me.
As I am not a fan of antipyretics, which can have many side effects I searched for alternatives... Together with the Lavender essential oil, Peppermint already helped me battle with high fever the girls got when they were sick. When one evening one had a fever of more than 39 degrees Celsius, I rubbed her soles with a mixture of lavender oil, peppermint and coconut oil, and then just watched how the temperature began to fall, still slowly, but it was lowering.
I and my friends also swear on the Peppermint oil when our head starts to hurt. We apply it on the temple, forehead, and even on the back of the neck.
But I wouldn't be me if I wouldn't try to use it in the kitchen. And because I love chocolate 'After Eight' I gave it a go and made my own at home, when I added a drop of essential oil of Peppermint into a melted plate of dark chocolate and pour it into praline molds, and let it set.
So next time, when you will get a headache, when you will need to cool down or when you will run out of After Eight you now know what to do... If I got you interested you can easily learn more about it on the www.
