THE STORY OF THE PHOENICIANS
Phoenicians are the people of the ancient phoenica and its colonies. The word "Phoenicia" came from the Greek language which means "red skin" or "red brown" due to the fact that the Greek saw the Phoenicians as sun burnt reddish brown sailors.The Phoenicians home was in Babylon before and they later settled along the coast of Syria about 2000 B. C.
GEOGRAPHY
Phoenicia was a narrow strip of land north of Palestine. It lay between the Lebanon highlands in the east and the Mediterranean sea in the west.
OCCUPATIONS
The Phoenicians then, specialised in ship building and navigation. The cedarwood and the natural harbour made them good sailors. They built ships with the cedarwood. Their ship were rowing boats
The Phoenicians later engage in trade. They traded with Africa, of which they specialised on the North Africa

CITIES AND COLONIES
Phoenicians made great wealth from the trade. So they were able to build great cities. They had three great cities
- Tyre
- Sidon
- Byblos
