Caigüire Beach has become one of my favorite places to relax and recharge, which is why I go there fairly often. This time, I explored the rocky area, home to the elusive crabs. There, I came across a few, which I tried to photograph—and here you can see the results. It’s not easy—these crustaceans are always scurrying in and out of their hiding spots.
The sun was particularly blazing, which explains the effect you can see here. In this case, the rock formations appear to glisten because of the saltwater and the sun’s rays. I’d seen this before, but it wasn’t until now that I really paid attention to it.
On this occasion, the sea was choppy—a term used around here to indicate that there were very strong waves and the sea was rough; you could hear the waves roaring over and over again—it’s quite a spectacle. However, for fishermen, this is a bad sign; it means they can’t go out in their boats because it’s too dangerous. Waves and strong winds are no friends to small-scale fishing.
When the sea is in this condition, it loses its natural blue color, and the water becomes murky—hence the brown hue that stands out in the photographs. This happens because of the presence of suspended sediments, including sand from the seabed, which makes it difficult to see the fish in the water.
Despite these circumstances, there were various people in the area—some chatting, others exercising or jogging. The truth is that, for generations, this area has been a favorite spot for these kinds of activities. People of all ages have found a refuge here to relieve their physical ailments and promote their well-being.
Gazing out at the ocean is definitely a pleasant experience; it allows me to escape from the daily grind and technology.
