I saw the end before it began
Not because you couldn't love the way I can
But because the flames we kindle
Are definitely destined to dwindle
They will be quenched
One way or another
Not because we will it to be
But sadly, that's the way it has to be.

I know our story doesn't end in forever
But don't fret
'Cause I'll be here till whenever
I know I can say the same for you
Because we love each other
Can we bend the hands of fate
And make this work, I wonder...?
Or will the thoughts of being in your arms
Be a dream that stays forever yonder?

Don't fall too deeply
Lest the wound is just as deep
But how can I heed?
When I have fallen helplessly
Into this sea that I'd willingly drown in
Gleefully riding each wave
Letting it carry me
Slowly but surely
To the center of your heart.

How could I pass this up?
An opportunity to be called your's
To have your gaze linger upon me with such intensity
Visible in those chocolate brown orbs
Oh!
The way they sparkle when you smile
The way they twinkle like the stars on the eastern sky when you laugh
Like a lost traveler
They guide me out of the dark
Right back to the path
The road that leads to your warm embrace
Who needs the moon?
When you effortlessly light up the room
Of what use is the heat from the sun?
When your touch leaves me burning hot.

The eyes are the window to the soul, they say
Why should I ever tire of gazing into the wild depths of your's?
How can I be weary of seeing your desire
Burn for me in those fiery orbs?
I would rather stare intently
Because I know you see it too
When our eyes are locked together
Not the reflection of your love
But the furnace of mine burning intensely
Just beneath the surface.

It's selfish, I know
To start a story that has no ending
To write a book and stop at a cliffhanger
But I won't be able to live with myself
This I know
If I never get to hear the slight drawl of your words
As you profess that I will be forever your's
You whisper in my ears
The words that tether me to you
And I bask in the surety of them
They're not empty
As I recall from the others
But full of life
Spoken with certainty
They're like music to my ears
How they serenade me so
Because I know
It's a promise
Of something better
Of something different
Of something undoubtedly odd
But undeniably unique
There are no holds barred
No seatbelts needed
On this wild, wild jolly ride.

If I was an artist
Talented with the stroke of a brush dipped in pastel
I'd paint your essence on every canvas
Let the world gaze upon your ethereal visage
Let them see that I have found perfection
And made it mine
I'd use the colours of fire
A little red here
A little blue there
And a subtle amber in-between
To reflect the glow I see in your person
But alas,
Not far from the corridors of creativity
Lies a writer
With her words on her sleeve
And no choice
But to write you into the hearts
And minds of her readers
With her pen
She creates a special kind of art
One that's a reflection of her heart
And the ferocity with which it beats
For the one after it
So, my dear reader
Having stumbled upon this
Now you know
Beyond every reasonable doubt
That these words
Are from a writer to her muse.

To be loved is one thing
To be a writer's muse is another.
