It's been quite awhile since I've had a bike ride. The weather's been great recently so we took advantage of it and got the bikes out.
We started out at Poolsbrook Country Park and followed the cycle trail up to Clowne Greenway, which is a relatively new trail on the disused railway.
There's a lot of disused railway lines all over the UK that have been changed into walking and cycling trails and some are accessible to horse riders, wheelchair users and parents with buggies. All traffic free.
A lot of the spring flowers are now appearing. Cowslips are one of our most common spring flowers.
Lady's Smock and dandelions ....
We have a variety of bluebells which are best seen at the end of April/May time where you can see a carpet of blue, especially in wooded areas. The golden rule is to look but don't pick them.
Passing a pond we spotted a mallard with about fourteen ducklings. She definitely has her hands full!
After so many miles, we turned around and went a slightly different route back.
It wasn't the most easiest of trails that I've been on. It was a steady incline most of the way without any respite. I don't think we will be returning!
