We visited Portland Park in the next county to us, which included a woodland, an open space, a river and wetland areas.
You can enjoy the wooded area or just take a short walk around the ponds.

Walking down to the railway line which is still in use, people have to look to see if a train is coming before risking going over the tracks. If you are in a car or herding animals over, you would have to use the phone that is there to ask if it is safe to do so.
We decided to go over the railway line another time and just followed the footpath through the wood.
There were a lot of grey squirrels about. I've watched squirrels bury their food to eat later. They also pretend to bury food when other squirrels are watching, so it doesn't get pinched. I don't blame them.
Looking at the poster someone got the birds the wrong way around. Someone else has subtley pointed out their mistake. 馃榿
It was a lovely park for a short walk with many different paths. You could easily make a return visit to check out other routes.
