Leaving Heidelberg behind us in the motorhome, we set our navigation southward toward Baden-Baden. It’s a step closer to our ultimate destination, Switzerland. They say Baden-Baden is so good they named it twice, or perhaps that’s just New York! 😃 The drive down the motorway was smooth and easy as the green hills of the Black Forest began to appear on our horizon. Finding a spot to park up near the centre turned out to be easy this time around, which is always a relief when you are manoeuvring a larger vehicle.

Stepping out into the warm air, Baden-Baden immediately showed off its charm. Our first stop was a leisurely walk through the lovely, long stretch of parkland and gardens running right alongside the Oos River.

The water in the river bed was running quite low, exposing the stone riverbed underneath.

The colourful, bold "LOVE" sign really pops against the surrounding greenery.

Nearby, tucked among the pine trees and flowing water fountains, we spotted a bronze bust of Wilhelm Furtwängler, the famous conductor.

The banks do have some interesting names.

Since it was a Sunday, there were not many people out and about. Most of the local shops and boutiques were closed for the day, which actually worked out great for us. It made the whole town feel quiet, relaxed, and peaceful as we wandered around. We did stop for a bite to eat, though.

We eventually made our way over to the impressive Trinkhalle (Pump House), famous for its grand Corinthian columns and outdoor arcades.

Just down the road, the tall twin spires of the city's church peeked out over the treetops, offering a lovely backdrop of historic architecture. Baden-Baden turned out to be a really interesting little stopover. After a nice, relaxing walk, we returned to the motorhome and hit the road again.

We drove for another 90 minutes before settling down at our next campsite, at Camping Schwarzwaldhorn in Simonswald, which is located in the Black Forest region of south western Germany where we will be staying put for the next three nights.
