Exercise is much needed for our health, body and mind. This might be an activity we enjoy doing, walking or gym. Sometimes however boredom destructs us from our goal. Your need to be a couch potato becomes bigger than a fit body-besides,potatoes are so delicious.

How many times have I canceled a workout lesson because I’m just too tired to get off my bed? Many. Even the thought of it makes me exhausted. My brain sends signals like “don’t even move from here”, “gym sucks”, “let’s eat some shit in front of the telly and become fatter and happier”. And guess what? Many times my brain’s suggestions are alluring enough to stay where I am and don’t do anything. Oh no, I eat.

Gym sucks. And maybe that’s one reason that I don’t like moving my butt towards that nasty place. Gym is boring. I know a few people who enjoy going to the gym, I’m not one of them. Running on the treadmill is meaningless. I’m not a hamster. I run for an hour and I stay in the same place, with the same sweaty people around. Treadmill underestimates my IQ, so does the stationary bike. Countless times I have registered in a one year program and went like 20 days overall. Ten in the beginning-due to excitement-ten at the end-due to despair.

Climbing lessons are much more fun for me but still, boredom hides in the right corner of my couch licking my feet. Driving to The Wall is a pain in the ass. If I could magically transport there in seconds, probably I would be there every day. But in 2018 unfortunately we are not yet able to do that, so taking a nap instead is the option I go with some times.

Walking outside is fun. I’m blessed to live by the sea and these walks are always rewarding. I feel rejuvenated and every time I choose to get out of my house I feel proud of myself-like it is a big deal. The problem in that case is getting dressed for a walk. Seems like a huge matter-even though I know it isn’t. I mean if you want, you can really find a thousand reasons to avoid exercise.

Motivation however is needed and some good routine also. Humans because of their lack of free time, exhaustion and boredom tend to enjoy sitting more, instead of moving, by finding numerous silly excuses. But if we really want to expand our lifespan and improve the quality of our lives, we should introduce ourselves to a better routine. Everything in life has to do with practise. The more you do it, the better you do it and the more you want it.
